:D Hi It's me again!!:p
Well I have been reading alot on how people feed their dogs Carrots:D
So I made a nice Minestrone soup tonight and it had carrots in it. So after they were cooked nice and soft I fed some to Nemo:D first time.
Now I have a little question, please oh please tell me carrots don't cause diarrhea ya know "The Runs", "Crapola" "S%*#"
Please someone give me some feedback here..
Thanks
ANDREA~:D :D

No carrots are fine. Scrappy loves all his vegies frozen, as treats :D
Pumpkin can unblock drains very effectively however :D

No, carrots are fine! Just don't overdose him on them or it might!:tongue6: Kallie and Toby love carrots cooked or raw!! Love Cauliflower as well! I always mix the cooked veggies with their dry dog food though and never just by themselves. Did he like them???

Carrots are great, my yorkie used to like them as a pup, but he won't eat them anymore for some reason. My mom's malt on the other hand loves them raw, I've never given him a cooked carrot though.

I really don't know the answer cause I don't feed them carrots every day. Wish I could have been more help. Perhaps some of the members that feed an all raw diet can help you out with your question. BUT mine love carrots and watermelon too. I just don't give it daily.:D

Dear Andrea,
Wookie gets three baby carrots a day... and yes I can see a little "orange" in his hmmmm poo but other then that, he LOVES them! I cut the carrot, long way into fours and then slice those four parts to give him "kibble" size bites. He won't go to bed at night if I have fogotten his carrots, and he reminds me. I have never tried feeding him cooked carrots, so not sure about that.
Love to you and Nemo!

Oh great idea!!! I usually slice them but that sounds like a better idea to make them kibble size.

I buy frozen peas and carrots, microwave them to soften them up and put it in their food sometimes. I also sometimes put shredded mild cheddar cheese with their food too! They love it and their poop is okay.

Jack gets his baby carrots, peas, and green beans. He just loves all that. On Sunday he gets his own little doggie meatball (recipe from doggie cookbook). He also gets his frozen ice cube that is made with banana, yogurt and orange juice.

I think garlic is one of those things you are not suppose to feed them........but I doubt you gave him enough to hurt him. But I'll double check with my ASPCA list asap!

I may be wrong but I think I remember seeing somewhere where they were using garlic to ward off fleas. But I can not find where I saw it.
As far as the carrots I have been told by my vet and many other people that they help with anal gland issues.

He should be fine garlic in a large doses is toxic. You can season with a bit of galic powder. I would try not to feed him slivers in the food. Onions are a def. nono because it directly affects their blood. (it makes them dangerously anemic) BTW you would think Mia & Cody were Vegans they love their veggies.

So what was his poo like this morning. Oh what a weird Q.LOL. I think now, after reading everyones comments, that I'll get a few carrots for mine and see if they like them. Actually they sound quite good for them to chew on. Keep them busy for a while.

I guess the carrots do to Nemo what pumpkin can do.........pumpkin can either losen their stools or stop the runs. Never tried the carrots except in the kibble.

In order for them to get nutritional value from the carrots, they should be either pulverized in a food processor or lightly steamed because dogs don't process/digest veggies the way humans do :) But if it's just for an occassional treat, then I guess it doesn't really matter.

Sure that would work fine if he likes them. I get the baby carrots and slice them really thin and use them as an alternate treat! Brandy does not like them but the other two do!:D

Great! I'll be sure to get some baby carrots at BJ's!
My kids love them, so if Bosco doesn't, no problem. I was wondering about the apples too, because my son and I are having one now!
Oh, and I just created a new snack for us people I'm trying to snack smarter, to trim down a little. I cored an apple, sliced it sideways, so the slices look like a ring, spread a little peanut butter on one piece, put another on top, like a sandwich, and BAM, a yummy, healthy snack.
Thanks again, for all the support! Bosco's doing GREAT! No accidents today (because I won't keep my eyes off him!) :wink5:
