Thanks Leigh Ann!! Your bows are gorgeous! I love them. They are gorgeous and sturdy. I tried to force one in one of my babies hair but it didn't work. LOL....I can't wait for their hair to grow. Hell, I might wear them myself for now.....LOL

Leigh Ann makes wonderful bows!!! I love her bows, they are very sturdy and always beautiful!! She makes all of my bows for me now and I always love what she comes up with. I can't wait to see what you got. We have new ones for Emme but with her being so sick this last week, I will try to get pics of her in them next week.

Well I won't have pics for awhile got the girls hair is too short right now. I might be able to get a bow in Gracies hair. LuLu has "helmet hair" right now as my husband call it....I personally think she looks like a white Don King....but she is still a cutie....
The Hello Kitty bows are my favorite!! I LOVE Hello Kitty. And she made me two Halloween bows to go with their Halloween collars (Halloween my favorite holiday. I am already picking out my costume).

Carol, my girls hate bows and clothes....this has to change! I am very girly and they are going to have to be girly. Should I just put something on them every day for a few hours at a time to get used to it?

I agree about Leigh Ann's bows being great! Paris doesn't wear clothes (her decision, not mine) so we have LOTS of bows!

There are HALLOWEEN bows too.
Just one question for this newbie...what is a grooming band
And would it be better to start with the barette
Last one...which kind of barrette..is see there are two

That sounds like a good idea to me! Kallie never wore bows in her hair and never had a topknot until she was almost three years old (we got her at 2 1/2 years old and it took six months for the topknot hair to grow out). She didn't seem to mind at all......Now we do the double topknot. Brandy was 2 years old when we got her and she took to wearing bows right off. Buffy is 4 years old and we've had her 2 months now and she doesn't seem to mind either so maybe it also has something to do with "age." I do wear bows in Toby's hair too...........very masculine looking bows, of course!!!! And he does fine with them too but I always have their hair in topknots. I only let them down when I bath them. That's a minimum of 4 topknots a day or sometimes when I do double, it's six ( I never do a double in Buffy or Toby).
But one thing for sure, to keep the hair nice, you have to do a fresh topknot every day or the hair matts and can really get ugly!!! Nothing worse than having a beautiful topknot destroyed by matts.:( :(

:) Thanks for the compliments! :) Grooming bands are just small rubber bands that are attached to the back of the bow. I also offer two different types of barrettes for you to choose from too. One is the french barrette:

and the other is a snap barrette:

It's all really just a personal preference on what works best for you! :)

I use the French Barrettes. I have a couple of the snap barrettes that I haven't tried yet to see what the difference is in them.

I use the French Barrettes. But I will admit most of mine have the latex bands but I do use papers around the topknots to keep them from breaking the hair. :) :)

I think the bows sit better when you use the bands, but I do have some bows with the french barrette. I like having the option of the barrette when in a hurry and I know I won't be keeping the bow in all day. JMO

Personally, I like the snap barrettes but those are my least popular choice among my customers. I use some really nice high quality grooming bands to put her topknot up first, then I weave the snap barrette in the hair right under the band. The bow hides the bands. Does that makes sense? I hope I explained it ok.

That is the way that I do it now with Jasper. I put the band in first and then use the barrettes so it stays better. I just can't get the bow with the bands already on it to sit right so we do it this way.

I put a band, some topknot paper with a bank on top to secure it and then the bows with the latex bands over the top of the topknot. But they don't last very long should the kids declare playtime!:(:(

I always put Paris' topknot up before putting in any bows. I will try the snap barrettes on my next order.:)

Yes it makes sense! But what is considered high quality bands? I think I have cheapies. They break too easy.

I highly recommend the 5/16 fine weight in yellow... they are awesome and I have hardly any hair breakage. Scroll down and you'll see them.

I also would get a pair of suture scissors to snip the bands out of the hair. That will also help you have less breakage. You can see them here: http://www.showoffproducts.com/groom_aid.htm. I couldn't live without my little scissors.

Okay why Lellow??? (and yes I meant to spell it like that. It is how my great niece used to say it when she was little).
I have some of those scissors. I use them for trimming my eyebrows. LOL

LOL... I know "Lellow" isn't the greatest or most popular color but for some reason, the yellow has the best elasticity... they were recommended to me by several show people at one of the dog shows I attended. They swore by the yellow ones... you only have two options anyway black or yellow and they said the black ones were not the same and to only get the yellow ones.

I have a few customers who like them but most want the french barrette and those are the ones I don't care for at all. The snap barrette is just so much easier to me.

UMM Carol...help me again (newbie here ya know). What kind of papers? Where do you get them??
paris
09-11-2008, 08:11 AM
You can get the papers at Sally's, probably other places as well. I believe there are two different kinds, a mesh type and a solid one. They are like the papers used in perms (I think) I tried using the papers at one time but now I just put Paris' topknot up like a ponytail.

Betty was dead on!!!! They are papers that you buy from a beauty supply store. I tried the mesh but they seem a little heavier than the solid thin papers that I have been using. But they protect the hair from breakage due to the bands. They are like dirt cheap........250 for $2.79 and I cut them in half so that's 500 for $2.79. I will try to get a picture of them for ya! :)
