So Rocky and I went to the vet today for his last round of shots and the vet says we can come in 2 months (when rocky is 5 months old) to get him neutered. That was my plan but i heard that sometimes after the procedure that the animals personality changes completely. Anyone heard or experienced this?:maltese2:

I only have one male Yorkie and we adopted him at six months and he was already neutered. I had all three girls spayed and no change in them at all.......not sure if the males are different but I know there are some on the forum that have had their males nuetered so hopefully they will be able to answer your question.
Some things to think about that I found on another site are:
Spayed and neutered pets are better, more affectionate, companions.
Spayed and neutered pets are less likely to bite. Unaltered animals often exhibit more behavior and temperament problems than those that have been spayed or neutered.
Spayed and neutered dogs live longer, healthier lives.
Neutering male dogs reduces the incidence of prostate cancer.
Neutered animals are less likely to roam and fight.
I'm not a vet so can't really say if these statements are true or not.

Personally, I have never had an animal that was neutered or spayed before 6 months of age. I have heard some say to wait until they are older. My vet prefers to do them around 9 months or older and we also do their dental at the same time.

my male dog is 60# but I would think it still applies? he changed a little but for the better.. he's a lot more well behaved. we used to have problems with him snapping or ignoring us and ever since he was nuetered he hasn't pushed his boundaries. he does still mark his scent outside on things... umm he is still very hyper so he has to go on walks alot.. I think that's all that really changed.. I'm not sure but I think they still have the urges to mark and "know" when a females in heat but theycant do anything.. but idk on that last prt.
ok I'm done I'm starting to ramble lol

I think its better for the dogs sake, they end up less frustrated and less fixed on finding a mate.
haven't had Kosmo fixed yet so can't help ya but i am planning on getting him done around 6 months :)
