Sorry, but I have never heard of it. I am new to the Maltese breed so maybe someone else might know. I have used whitening shampoo once and it got off Jasper's stains from him being dirty but that was it.

This is from an old post of Carol's....
"There is a way to do it but you must be very careful. I have used the MOM treatment which is a combination of milk of magenisum/peroxide for human hair/conditioner/corn starch in equal amounts into a paste and the apply to the stains. This can be done at night and then should be washed out first thing in the morning and a conditioner used on the hair. I would not do it more than twice a week with him being so young. It is a long process as using it too often will dry the hair or damage it and it will break off or become very coarse. It is extremely important not to get any of the paste in the eyes as serious damage can occur."
I've never tried it myself...

That is the MOM treatment I found on a breeder's website!! Works wonders but great care has to be used when it is applied to the dog or it could cause skin irritation, injury to the eye, etc.
I have used it on all three maltese with great success but I am really really careful. Using small amounts on just the areas and not overusing it to the point of damaging the hair. I never let any touch the skin.........a light application to the hair only. I only leave it on for about six or seven hours, wash the solution out completely and then condtion condtion conditon the hair!

What area do you use it carol??, If you used it around the mouth wouldn't they lick it off??, do the fumes from the peroxide irritate the eyes?? so may questions.
Max gets some staining around his mouth, under his eyes and even his feet, but I could see him licking that mix off on all of those areas (except under eyes)

it is usually used around the muzzle area.......with the added Milk of Magnesia and the "CONDITIONER".....you don't smell the peroxide at all, just the conditioner. I am also extremely careful not to get any on the skin but apply it just to the hair and comb it through for coverage but again, not getting any on the skin. I do use it sparingly and repeat the process rather than put tons on for a one time fix. Sometimes one time is all that is needed as in the case of Buffy. Brandy and Kallie needed additional treatments. I have not used it near the eyes for fear of injury to the eye but they do not seem to be bothered with any fumes but it is a very small amount of peroxide. They never seem to lick each other and I have used it around the mouth but always combing the hair back away from the mouth. The key is to do it just before they go to bed and once the lights are out at our house........they settle in quickly and go to sleep. It dries and the next morning I wash all the little faces and "CONDITION" the hair.
I have another solution for the feet that helps with staining but it is only used during bath time. It helps remove the stains with repeated use. But I would never use the MOM treatment on the feet because they would be certain to "lick" it off.
