Hi everyone, for those that were interested in the custom silk step in harnesses, the lady's name is Cindy and her email is cindyhice@bellsouth.net
She has lots of colors, and she can do matching leashes. She can also put Swarovski crystals on them if you like. :)

Note to everyone: Cindy has recently changed her email: it's cindyhice@bellsouth.net now.

I emailed her yesterday and she responded very quickly back to me! She was very nice.......great communicator. I think I will order one for Toby and see how it works with his long hair first and if I like it, will order one for Kallie as well. I'll let you know how it goes!:D

They work well on my Yorkie. They are easy to put on. My only problem has been that if she gets a chance she will chew it into.Cindy did repair it for me at no charge the first time but she has chewed it again and I'm ashamed to ask again.:o

Has anyone gotten this silk harness yet?

I am getting to the stage of needing to get stuff ready for a new puppy so would love to know how this harness has worked out.

Sorry that this has nothing to do with this thread. But...

Bren, when are you getting your new puppy? I'm so happy for you! I know you talked about it before but I wasn't sure when you were getting one. Congrats! Keep us posted!

I do want to try the silk harness, if it prevents matting with use then I definitely want to give it a try.

Even with Kallie and Toby's long long lush hair??? I almost ordered them, had colors and everything picked out and then chickened out as most of her clients had short hair on their dogs and said they told her it did not mat them. But she couldn't be certain it would not mat the longer hair, she didn't think so but I don't want to spend that kind of $$$ and it mat just like the rest of the other harnesses I've tried!!!

I think anything I use on them with their Long Long hair is going to cause mats..........so we are going to have to just work on the heel command when we do take our walks..........I trained my poodle when I went through courses and it can be done with patience and time. It's either that or CUT their lovely lush hair! What should I do???? :D :sidesplit: :sidesplit:

Carol,
Perri has long(er) hair and it's been fine. It's not to the floor like your Kallie's but it is about 6 inches long and thick. :)

Note to everyone: Cindy has recently changed her email: it's cindyhice@bellsouth.net now. My original post is to old for me to edit it.

Okay, I measured Kallie's hair and it is 12 inches long from the shoulder to the bottom of the hair.........and her hair is thick............still think it will not be a problem??? Toy's hair is 10 inches long but is thinner. If you think it will be fine and not mat the hair, I'll order one for each and the coupler.....but if it mats..........I'll give you a good deal on a couple of harnesses....ROFL:D :D

Seriously, do you really think it wil be okay with that length of hair????? They are so mat free and I don't want to "create" problems for myself!

A lot of the YTers have wonderful reviews about Cindy's silk harnesses. You might do a search on YT regarding her harnesses and see if anyone mentions their furbabies being in full coats...If the harness is left on for a long period of time, then they probably will mat, but if it's just to walk them and they are brushed afterwards, I don't think you would have problems with the mats.
I will probably be ordering two harnesses from Cindy this week...One for Miko and one for Emma :) The harnesses my furbabies have now aren't my fave, and Cindy's just look so wonderful and they're pretty too :)

Oh she has wonderful colors, exactly what I want! YT is where I first heard about them. But I will do a search and see if there are other Long haired lovers that use the harness....thanks for the suggestion!!!!:)

Yes, Perri's is thick as well and no problems. Now clothes are another story, but the harness has never caused mats on him. He wears it for walks, for his agility classes, and in his carseat. If you're worried though, why don't you just order one to begin with? Of course they're custom made, but she does leave room for adjustment. Perhaps you could go ahead and order Toby's, and then make it bigger for Kallie to try, if there isn't too much of a size diff. between them.

Tink has long hair (my yorkie) and when I took her to the lake, she was in her harness all day, when we got home she did have a tangle (not a mat) on the top of each leg that I had to comb through. BUT that's all day and after jumping in the lake and drying out without combing :D Can't expect a miracle! LOL

Now I do keep Chloe short and we know that yorkie and maltese hair IS different. So I don't want to guarantee that it won't cause mats in her hair. They only go around the base of their legs, so that would be the only place the hair could mat. It doesn't go around the neck and it doesn't touch the back. They ARE beautiful and feather light.

Does Paris have long long hair???? See, that is what I am worried about is getting mats in the long hair. I am certain that they would work great with short coats.............I don't want anything that will cause mats even small ones!!! It's hard enough keeping mats out of the coat with them wearing nothing!!!

Right now she doesn't have long hair, but I have used them on her when her hair was longer (never as long as your babies' hair). She may get one or two but I've about decided there isn't anything out there where the hair won't be completely tangle/mat free after wearing for a long period of time. I only use these for her daily walks or when we are travelling. Just for her walks...there are no tangles/mats.

Hi,
I don't have experience with super long hair, but Cindy's harnessess are wonderful! I have three with one more on the way and I have one of the couplers, too. She is very accomodating and a super person! The NapSaks she makes are soooooooooo cool - I have two of those.:)
