I know most of us dont take our furkids off the leash
actually with the weather being cold and all I am too cold to go out so I dont bother to take any of them out... beside donbi

anyways
I was watching my county's animal shelter show
dont ask... i just had it on so i can figure out what days my brother (in highschool) does not have school in advance so i can boss him to clean his room and do his chores.

sorry going off topic again!

BUT WE MUST ALL REGISTER OUR FURKIDS!
I was watching the animal shelter thingy,
there was a dog who was running around the neighborhood (my county is a leash enforcement county) all leashes have to be on.
so anyways a neighbors dog was running around...
and the animal shelter lady was going to take that dog away! and the owners had to go to court to retrevie their pet.
but since she had a dog lincese through the county they got a verbal warning.
Im not saying we will have our pets running around.
but... there can be a day when they run out and we accidently close the door thinking they are with us. i think its better safe then sorry you know.
plus its only 10 bucks when your pet is spayed or neutered in my county

well i just wanted to tell you ladies what i saw
because i remeber there were 2 topics about getting a dog lincese through your county and what was the difference if we didnt...

oh another thingy
i noticed i have 3 akc babies and i still havnt enrolled them
is there a time limit on the registration?[/FONT]

I agree Jadey. Registration is important and so is micro chipping.

Scrappy was micro chipped on his very first vet visit. I wasn't about to take chances. It is law here down under to register your dogs with your city. Stiff penalties apply if you don't comply.

All my dogs are registered, they have strict rules and penalties here so I make sure of all the dogs get registered every year. They wear all their tags all the time so that if they did get out they would have their tags on them.

As for the time limit with AKC, you have until their first birthday to register them at a normal price. Once they are a year old, it will cost alot more to register them. But I am not sure if there is a time limit on years.
I had a golden that was AKC and she had champion parents and bloodines. But we didn't register her right away. Years later we went to register to her and they said we were past the time limit so we coulden't register her. But that was years ago, the rules could have changed.

The AKC site says that there is a penalty fee of $35 if you are register them over a year from the time of the date on the registration papers. And $65 penalty fee for two years over the time limit. But it does not go beyond 2 years so maybe you can't register them after it has been two years past the time limit.
