Hello

Was just wondering what you feed your dogs?

I leave Nutro out for Stewie all day long and I mix it with about 10% Eukanuba. For some reason, he loves Euk and eats a lot more Nutro when I offer it with Euk. I also feed him scrambled eggs once in a great while and cottage cheese or yogurt.

He gets broken-up unsalted pretzels as treats as well as Greenies and cheese flavored pup corn. I also give him jerky treats such as Beggin Strips, etc once in a while.

I'm pretty boring I guess, we feed chicken soup and give a little bit of that natural balance roll for treats occasionally. Every now and again I give them a greenie. If I make popcorn i throw them a few. But that is the only time they get human food other than when they steel it from my kids or something. I have to be careful because Chloe used to be the pickiest eater until I learned how to change that. Now she is a big pig and probably a little overweight, especially since it is so hot here and she doesn't really want to go outside, she is a chubby girl.

I have tried Sassy on many doggie dry foods which I call all of them kibbles. She started on Innova, then Science Diet puppy small bites, Nutra Max puppy, Chicken Soup for the puppy's Lovers Soul, and is now on Science Diet Senior. Eventhough she is only 2 1/2 years old she has always eaten puppy formula. Her vet said it is ok because she is so active. She never ate enough to brag about anyway. Recently I changed her to the senior formula and guess what? She likes it better than any of the other kibbles I have ever given her. The vet said the only difference is less fat and more fiber. I give her a vitamin supplement (vet gave [sold] it to me) when I remember to do so.
As for people foods occasionally Sassy gets: cottage cheese, scrambled egg, lean skinless grilled chicken breast, grilled filet mignon, green beans, baby carrots, ice cream, rice, and hard cheese. Also fruits include: apple, peach, and watermelon. Sassy has one rule of thumb about people food. If the mommy eats it, Sassy eats it (that is if mommy will share). Oh yes, Sassy also likes sugar free jello.
Sassy's favorite dogie treat is 100% chicken breast jerky. She will dance for one of those. She also gets an occasional greenie (always supervised). Grooming treats are a 97% fat free chicken treat which I can't remember the name right now. I also keep Nutri~Cal on hand for days when she doesn't eat much. She is a picky little girl.

Tuffy has tried a lot of food... Science Diet, Chicken Soup, Flint River Ranch and recently Nutro Natural Choice. So far the Nutro wins out. He's doing great on it and he loves to eat it; which were my two main concerns. Pixie also eats the puppy variety of Nutro Natural Choice.

I give Kaylee Nutro Ultra Adult food. I tried several other brands before, but Nutro is the only dog food she has been willing to eat. She really likes it, and her staining has almost totally disappeared. Yea!! :D

What is Chicken Soup? You don't really mean chicken soup do you?

No, it's an actual brand. It's called Chicken Soup for the Dog (or puppy) Lover's Soul. They usually carry it in the same places that have Solid Gold, Innova etc.

:) I boil chicken for my sick cat and my Bailey to eat. I use the leftover broth to soak Bailey’s rawhide bone and he loves it. The broth is only water and chicken without any extra ingredients. Let the bone dry out before giving it to your dog so the carpet does not get stained.

I feed Solid Gold, they get Hund n Flocken in the morning, and Just a Wee Bit in the evening. They all get 1/4c each. I have also started adding 1 tablespoon of canned greed tripe (I know, yuck) to their morning meal. I heard about all the great health benefits and decided to give it a try. They love it, all three growl, bark and dance in circles for their tripe meal. That stuff is doggi drugs! For treats, they get very few, Charlie Bears crackers, a bully stick on bath day, bits of apple, half a Tiny Tot, or occasional popcorn if we are having some. I will also give them cottage cheese, Gerber Chicken Dices, or an egg every once in awhile.

Be very careful giving your baby rawhide. It doesn't digest and can cause intestinal blockage. Also, make sure it is made in the US (because of mad cow disease abroad). There is a relatively new product out that is compressed rawhide. Little chunks pressed together. I haven't tried it but it would not cause the blockages. Always monitor your baby very carefully when eating rawhide and greenies. Also, do not leave the rawhide laying around for days after it has been chewed on, it can grow bacteria. Just my opinion.

Pro Pac lamb & Rice, we leave this at will for our babies. This is the main food and as a general we try and stick with 10% treats. ( that can be lots of things) I try and mix it up with things they enjoy. I spoil them pretty well.
Pro Pac has a good puppy formula and and Adult food of the same. We have tried several others, but this seems to do well with ours, it has no corn.
