Can anyone recommend a trusted maltese breeder in the NY/NJ area. I've been looking for a while now but have had no luck. I'm willing to travel to find the right puppy for my family. I'm a single mother of 3 ages 18, 9 and 7 and would very much like to give them a puppy for the holidays. Wish i had started my search a few months back. I wasn't aware how difficult this would turn out to be. It seems the more research i do and the more i read, the more i become afraid that i will be scammed with a puppy from a puppy mill or something like that.
By the way, has anyone heard anything about getting puppies from breedersdirect.com? My daughter and i fell in love with a puppy there that was going to be shipped from Missouiri but after much research i got scared and cancelled the order. Any advice?
Thanks for your help.

I'm getting mine from a breeder in Mahwah named Donna Lally. but unfortunatly, she doesnt have any more girls. Just a little boy (Who is adoooooooooooorable)
I found names off Breeder.net
But you have to go through and take the time to talk to breeders and find out about them (Call your local vet etc)

You were very wise to not get the puppy from Missori. Chrisman Maltese is in your area. I do not know if they have any little girls available at this time or not though. Here is a link to their website.........

Good luck in your search.
Does it only have to be around NY?

donna lally is such a delight! we got our dog, bear from her last summer and i have nothing but good things to say about her. we live in NYC and i was struggling to find a good breeder for over a year. i was so nervous and wanted to make sure the puppy came from a good home and a good breeder who knew what she was doing! when i found donna, when i spoke to her on the phone, before i even met her, i felt soo at ease and comfortable with her and i could tell she knew what she was talking about. when we went to her home i was even more pleasantly surprised! she has such a beautiful, clean and welcoming home in new jersey where she raises the puppies, right along side their parents. it is very important for the puppies not to be separated from their mothers. she raises them in such a loving, clean and nurturing way. ALL of her puppies and their parents are BEAUTIFUL. i have seen many maltese in my life as my parents always had one and their friends did too, and i have NEVER in my life seen such beautiful dogs. they are just perfect! look at my photo album and you will see how beautiful he is! all of her dogs are! bear has been an ABSOLUTE DELIGHT. he has brought so much love into our home, i dont know how life was with out him! he loves to cuddle and hes so affectionate. he has been 100 percent healthy from the day we got him. i took him to a vet to get a travel certificate and the vet told me he had never seen a healthier pup! another amazing thing, we brought him home at 10 weeks and he was COMPLETELY POTTY TRAINED! it was like a miracle. she trains them so they go on puppy pads, its amazing. i know we are so lucky because i have seen so many friends struggle with house-breaking. she sent us home with everything we needed for him and some of his toys and things from her house so he would recognize them and not be homesick! she is so thoughtful. she even took us to the pet supplies store to buy everything we needed for him. im sorry my review is getting so long but i have so much to say and i really dont think a better breeder exists. another thing, as i was a new pet owner, there were many questions i had. donna was in constant contact with me, helping me with every single question i had. she would send me detailed emails and tell me what to do about every single thing you could ever think of! she is a dream!!!!! if you live in NYC or NJ or surrounding areas, and you are looking for a maltese, you should try to get yours from Donna Lally at lally pups. but dont wait because she is very in demand and her pups go fast!

So glad you posted your review! I am not familiar with this breeder but I get inquiries a lot of 'where' to look for a puppy so this is very helpful. A few questions - Does she actively show her dogs right now? And what age does she let her puppies go?
