View Full Version : Innova
Has anyone fed their furbabies Innova food. I just bought some from Agrifeed Pet Supply and they highly suggest the Innova. They said it is all natural and ranks right up there with the Natuaral Balance and Wellness. They carry all three but they did not have any samples of any of them so I guess they convinced me that Innova was the best. I have not fed Bella any yet, I will try tonight to see if she likes it. Any thoughts on on this is very appreciated..:)

:D Hi,
I know a couple of people that feed Innova and like it.
I wouldn't say it's better than Wellness or Natural Balance, but it is a great food and right on top with Wellness and NB..
Hope your baby likes it..

Thanks for the reply. I just fed Bella the Innova and she liked it. I had been feeding her Royal Canine but she has not been eating it too good at all so I was a little concerned about her not eating well and her tear stains had gotten worse since she had been eating the Royal Canine. She is only 5 months old and I guess I want to see her eat really good.

Tear stains while they can be food related are also teething related, ear related, a low grade fever can manifest itself by tearing, or your baby may have blocked tear ducts.
All which need a vet to diagnose.
A good idea to have her checked out before she is spayed as the tear ducts can be fixed while she is under.
I hope the change of food works for you. :D

What brand of Natural Balance do you feed yours? I am having a bit of a problem finding it here. Do you feed the wet or dry? Thanks,

Hi,
Most feed dry. Like the venison, or potato and duck or the fish and sweet potato..
It's a great food..

I feed the Potato and Duck with some wet Lamb and Rice. LB loves it.
Andrea, when you feed the fish, does Nemo's umm...excrement stink? I'm thinking of trying it if it helps with her heart and coat.

Laurie,
I still have Nemo on Wellness. I am going to switch gradually to NB.
He is on the Wellness Fish and he's poopee:D doesn't smell at all, but he goes like 4 or 5 times a day:(

hey everyone, I know this post is a few months old, but I was wondering how your dog did on the Innova - were you using the EVO or another type? I just bought the Innova EVO my dog loved it, but the high protein content kinda scares me:confused: Has anyone here tried it?

Innova, Natural Balance, Wellness, all good foods :) I know of lots of people who have their babies on Innova and they do well on it. My baby refused to eat the Natural Balance dry. I tried for almost a week, she just didn't want it so we switched to Merrick Grammy's Pot Pie. The EVO is supposed to be good, but the high protein content scares me too. That's why I won't feed it.
I'm thinking of trying Canidae when she finishes this bag of GPP or possibly a food called The Honest Kitchen...It's FDA approved and made in a human food facility, not a pet food plant. I would ONLY feed the one that is VEGETARIAN though and add my own cooked chicken or whatever meat to it.

Thank you for the info - I think I'm starting to obsess about the dog foods, but with everything going on I want to make sure I choose a good one. The dog food analysis page http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com (thanks for sending this by the way!!) said the EVO was really good, but can all that protein be good?? I'm thinkin' this is like Atkins for dogs - all protein no carbs. Just not sure how healthy it can be.

Just started Lizzie Rose on EVO, she was eating the regular Innova but I switched her over as she was loosing interest in it.
She LOVES the EVO, It is definately more Protein but Dogs are Carnivores and dont really require HI carbs...
Well atleast thats what I saw on OPRAH today :)

I wanted to try the evo too but I was going to wait until Enzo was around a year old at least. Only because I heard from a lot of sources that a high protein diet isn't good for puppies.

An update on Emma...She never ended up finishing the grammy's pot pie...It's still 3/4 of the way full. We're going to give it to my MIL's doggie...We started homecooking for our dogs soon after I posted this, and Emma is thriving on homecooked meals. We used Dr. Pitcairn's book as a guideline.
Just throwing this out there...Has anyone heard of Orijen? This is supposed to be a very high quality dog food that contains no grains, as dogs don't really need grains...
