Hi all,

this story is very personal and sort of supernatural, so I was not sure if I'd post it here or not. But I thought, it might be good to share it with you, so here we go:

***

Prologue:

My previous dog was a tibetan terrier boy called Leonid (short: Lonia). I got him since he was a little puppy. It was love on the first sight on both sides and since then he was always with me, even if I have moved away from my parent's house. When my mum told him, that I'd come for vacation, he had sit at the door and wait for me. As soon as I arrived, he was following me everywhere. Lonia was a very intelligent, protective dog, although he had his stubborn moods. ;)
He was healthy, but as he got older, he got problems with his heart. One day I visited my family again and noticed that my dog was different. He was cuddeling even more than he did already and he wasn't even angry with me, when I had to pack my stuff to get back home. He put his haead on my legs and looked at me. I felt that something was wrong, but I couldn't really cathegorize it and cried.
A few weeks later he died. It made really sad of course, but I had some very intense dreams at that time. I dreamt I was on a lawn near a little forrest. I saw my dog in a very happy mood who wanted me to follow on his walk. He showed me a big tree (he peed on it of course ;)) and a little lake. In another dream, he showed me the forrest and I also saw a few other dogs playing. However, it was so real to me, that I woke up being totally sure to get up and walk my dog.

Time went by, I was about moving to a new appartment. I have met my gf (now wife) at the same time and I was also thinking about getting a new dog. Soon I had another dream: I was with my gf in my new appartment, playing with a b/w tibetan terrier dog. As far as I can remember, it was a girl, but heard on the name Lonia. A few weeks later, my gf told me she had a dream, where we were at the river near our place and played with ... guess what? - A b/w tibetan terrier dog. Needless to say, I haven't told my gf about my dream earlier.

After my gf moved to my place, I started to look for a dog, I wanted a girl this time, but it didn't work out somehow. I have done some research on tibetan terrier dogs and found some info about maltese dogs, just by accident. I saw once a maltese and thought it was a tibetan terrier baby. The owner smiled and said that it was a maltese.
Some time passed again, I was still searching for a dog, but couldn't find any. Just before going to sleep I was thinking about maltese as one alternative to tibetan terriers. Guess what I saw the next morning in the train on my way to school?! - Right, another maltese. :) From now on, I was sure about my next dog.
So, I started my search again and still wanted to have a girl. I was thinking about getting the dog from my home country Poland, so I subscribed in the polish maltese forum. Just a few weeks later, I have found an announcement about a puppy for sale. I looked at it but was unsure, b/c it was a boy. However, I wanted to continue my search, but somehow I couldn't get this puppy out of my mind. I even dreamed about him, but I don't remember the details. I really don't know what has driven me, but I picked up the phone and called the breeder and told her that I _really_ want this puppy. I couldn't believe what I have done, but now I had a dog.

The day to pick him up came closer, and I got more and more excited. The strange thing was, my heart was beating like hell as I thought about my new dog and my old dog at the same time. I really didn't know what that meant...

Epilogue:

Florek, my new dog is now with us. We have a lot of fun with him, he really brings joy in our lives. He is very intelligent and also has his stubborn times, just like Lonia. He looks like him, even sits, sleeps and acts the same way. When I met him for the first time, he immidiately licked my ear, afaik it means that the dog loves you. How could this be possible, as he never seen me before? It's kinda weird, b/c I call him by the name of my previous dog sometimes.
Was this all by accident? Is this reinkarnation? I don't have a logical explanation of this, but I don't think I really need one.

That story is so hauntingly beautiful. It gave me chills.

I'm so sorry about your first baby. I'm glad that you and Florek found each other. It just may be a way of your Lonia letting you know that he's okay and that he approves of Florek and that he's happy that you are happy.

Thank you for sharing that story with us...

That was a wonderful story. I'm so happy for you and Florek. Sometimes it's best to just not question why our minds think the things it thinks and you should just accept it for what it is. Much happiness with your new pup.

I love stories like that...now I gotta share mine.

My parents started me going to school when I was 3 (don't ask...) anyways I threw the biggest fits about going that summer, my Mom then bought me a cute, white fluffy mini poodle named Charlie. he explained to me that this little dog was MINE, and at age three I was expected to brush him, feed him and walk him (yes they helped). But more importantly he would always be waiting for me when I came home from school and he would be thinking of me, I could keep him if I went to school. So I went and Charlie stayed.
He wasn't like most dogs, #1 he was mute, Never barked once, whined a couple of times but that was it. he was a dog my mother said was born trained, They never taught him anything but he knew sit, stay come. He never played with toys, no fetch, nothing. He was happiest on my lap, he let me dress him up, and he would lay perfectly still in my doll buggy on his back.
This little dog I told EVERYTHING to. As I grew older he was my #1 confident, when I was happy, made angry. When I was a teenager my ritual was to go home and sit on the back deck steps with him and tell him about my day. My boyfriends all made fun of me and soon learned that made them exes...(except for one guy and I ended up marrying him).
Poor Charlie, lost all his teeth, went blind and was pretty deaf but I still told him everything and he knew what I was saying even thought he couldn't hear me.
The day I finished my final exam paper in grade 12, I came home jubliant, excited. Charlie was there wagging his tail to celebrate.
2 Days later I had to go back to the school to get my report card, when I came home my mom was crying and I knew, no Charlie. He had passed away about the same time as I got the report card.
I cried throughout the entire Grad ceremony, not because of the whole grad follishness but for my little dog.
My mother said it best he fulfilled his duty.
I still miss him (it has been 8 years!), my mother found my first set of clippers and they had his hair stuck in it...(getting sniffly writing this).
Well I honored that little faithful dog the best way I knew how, I neamed my second son Charles after him. People laugh but if my little boy turns out to be half as good as the little dog then he will grow up alright.
