View Full Version : Another VERY Windy Day in South Florida

Today was Lighthouse Point's Annual Dog Day In The Park event. I have always enjoyed this even, it's very laid back and neighborly to me. I love windy weather but today, it was just a bit too much, even for me. :lol2: And we for most of the day HEAVY dark clouds hung in the sky just to the west of us, making it very humid.
So, here are a few shots my daughter, Sara, took today. She was the camera person today, AFTER I had to chase my stroller down as the wind blew it away! No kidding it was THAT windy.
And I am sure I saw the "world's largest Maltese" today. The Mom of the girl dragging the malt along "swore" to me, A) when she saw Mr Wookie, she had never seen a Maltese that small, he can't be healthy. And B) my dog is 100% Maltese and they all should be this size. :o Ok, whatever, but I think the little girl "set" her Mom off when she asked the Mom, "why isn't our dog that size?" :(
HOWEVER overall once again we had a great day at this Event. We saw some old friends and met new ones.
There was a "fashion show" and Mr Wookie was the Security Detail, he had to clear the red carpet and did a great job.

Aww thank you so much! Yes, I wish you had dog events in your area also. They are so nice and you can learn a lot and make friends often.
Yes, the second photo is of the "maltese" the woman said was the "right size". :lol2: Now I am not saying her dog was "not" maltese and not a great size... I was just a bit put off about her comment about how Mr Wookie "has to be unhealthy." Small minds.... where as I prefer to "live and learn."

Love the pictures Melanie.............looks like you had sunny times today. Can't way that for here ........... it was rainy and dreary for most of the day. I think I saw 15 minutes of sunshine and the wind was horrible. It is so bad right now that the sensor flood lights out back keep coming on because of the movement of the bushes and trees by the wind. Going down to 38 tonight and then we are going to have a freeze tomorrow night.
So glad you had such wonderful weather for such a great event. AND thanks for sharing your "dog day" with us.

I was trying to speak to her about the Cotons but she turned away to say to someone something about Mr Wookie's size and when she turned back, she said to me "are you suggesting my dog isn't Maltese, my dog is 100% Maltese and a great dog." So that was enough for me.
If she only knew how "rare" Cotons are she may have wanted to know that perhaps her dog is one. :lol2:

I looked at that ladies large Malt and that link to a coton, I don't think he looks like a coton, I mean the size is about the same, but this ladies has a malt face and a softer coat JMO.
Ya know Melanie, if she is happy thinking her baby is 100% and LOVES him to death, good on her.. If only everyone loved there furbabies that much. We see time and time again animals being dumped, so her believing her baby 100% doesn't hurt anyone.
Unfortunatly we can't all have a Mr Wookie (although I would love to:hearter:)
