It is with a heavy heart that my husband and I have come to the decision that we need to find our little guy Cooper a new home. Perhaps we jumped too quickly into a new dog, having lost our 11 year old Golden Retreiver in August. Cooper is FULL of energy, still working on potty training, just beautiful, will be one on 7/17, and still working on the potty training. Perfectly kennel trained. Our 11 year old cat, Ernie, just hates him. But I don't think he would mind living with another kitty, one that doesn't swipe at him. We are in San Diego. He comes without papers, although the breeder claimed that his dad went to Westminster twice but because of the price we paid for him she could not 'give' us the papers, it was an ego thing. He on occasion has tremors, but not often and it has not interferred with his happiness and life in general, I include this info for full disclosure, it is not his whole body, just his head sort of nods. He has all his shots and is neutered. He is a big sturdy boy, about 8#. Very cautious, and not a lap sitter. He is very, very busy! But oh how cute is he!!! If you are interested please PM me. We hate to wait too much longer, as the younger he is the better, I am sure. Yes, I am crying but this is for the best. He is such a cutie pie!

I am so sorry to hear Cooper needs to be rehomed, I am sure this was a hard decision for you to make...what does the vet say about the tremors?

We have not had him checked out as it is so rare when he has them that it would be hard to replicate the move he makes. But in trying to be fair and tell all his positives and 'negatives' I did feel it honest to bring them up.

:( I hate that you have to rehome him.. would it be possible that if someone could maybe foster him for awhile, maybe finish his potty training, that you could take him back when you are ready??

I hate that he has to be torn from the family he loves.. poor baby

I think we have decided to hold off making any decisions that we may regret. I recently underwent major neck/spine surgery (2/17) and my husband believes that my way of thinking my be sort of skewed right now. I am still recouperating and am still on major drugs. His thinking is let's wait and see how it all seems after I am through the recouperation.

Sorry for the scare...and for being such a goof... Do I get my Maltese Talk membership revoked? :(

You remind me of myself. When I bought Alex after I lost my lhasa I was so overwhelmed the first few days that I wanted to give him back. Since the breeder didn't take him back, I even put him in the newspaper. And then I hoped that nobody will call. And thankgoodness nobody called. I am glad you are reconsidering. Your husband is right, with your surgery your thinking is not the same. Once you have recuperated, you will feel completely different.

I am so glad you are giving it some more time. I have had back surgery and I know what the meds can do to you. Not to mention the helplessness that goes along with not being able to do anything. Dogs do change and mature as they get older. There was a time that I thought I was going to have to ring Jasper's neck but one day he woke up and is the sweetest, goofiest dog I know and I love him to pieces. Cooper may not be doing everything like he is supposed to but he sure does love you and in time he will learn what he is supposed to do. Hang in there...it does get better both with the dogs and life after surgery. :)

Awwww this thread makes me teary eyed every time I read it.. I'm so glad Cooper gets to stay with his family.. If he needs a vacation I'll take him for awhile if you can get him to GA :)

Glad you are taking your time before doing anything.
You need to do what's best for Cooper and yourself and that takes a lot of thinking.
I also hope your recovery is swift and you are feeling better soon/:hug:
