Ben our little Maltese boy, asks to be picked up. Of course when you pick him up you want to get and give kisses, but when you pick him up he will bite your nose if you aren't careful. He's the only dog in the house that does it. He has done it since the day we got him. We used to think it was cute but now it's becoming a problem. I do not want to hit him, not that you would but don't suggest it.
It isn't only when you first pick him up, if you sit and love on him he will manage to kiss, kiss, kiss and kiss but then will sneak a nip in. Sometimes it's softer, sometimes it's not. He's still a baby so telling him not to bite only works as long as he remembers.
What can we do? Sylvia

The only thing I can think of is to immediately put him down and say "NO BITE" that worked with Nemo .I think if you keep at it it will eventually sink in that you dont like to be bite..
Good Luck

LOL We have been doing that but like you said it's kind of slow. LOL I was hoping for something I could do that would act faster. Thanks for the rapid response. Sylvia

Oh, I remember when LB was in that biting and nipping stage when we first got her. It was so hard trying to be firm with her because they are just adorable even when their behavior is wrong. But, I did and it was worth the repitition:D
There are times where we're playing and she gets too excited and bites me, I then cup her face and say "No bite Mommy! Only kisses!" She then licks me! So cute I say!!!

Yes, they are so cute. I have his little cousin, Angel and she doesn't bite at all but her mother belonged to someone else and she was potl so they weren't raised the same way. Ben is very cuddly but I just don't know how much the breeder held and loved on him. I don't imagine his mother or uncle would mind their noses being bit like humans would. LOL Sylvia
