View Full Version : How Do I Stop Babe from Eating #2?
Babe the last couple days has started eating his #2. I try and be w/ him the majority of the time to immediately pick up his soiled papers, but occasionally I might step out of the room for a minute or two...and he begins the mischief.
Is this my fault or?
Thank You

Well the best way to avoid it is to pick it up immediately.... easier said then done I know. :)
I fed Scrappy pineapple pieces and there is something in the pineapple that deters them from wanting to eat their poop.
Scrappy only did it the once and has never done it since but to be safe he does still get pineapple as a treat.
Sometimes there is undigested food in the poop which entices them to eat.:fainted:

:o I dont know, Nemo has never ever done this~ But I know they do, I would pick it up really fast and flush it. Or try the pineapple like Bren says..
Good Luck,
ANDREA~
Thank you for the pineapple suggestion. Are you using dried or fresh pineapple?
Babe has done this 3 times in 2 days. One day I was away for 2 hrs., but someone was here but not checking on him.
When I'm w/ him I pick all soiled papers up w/n seconds. He doesn't like to see a soiled paper.
The only thing I've fed him other then his dry puppy food or his biscuits were a couple small carrots for his teething problem. This may have caused him to want to eat his poop...carrots aren't going to be digested entirely.
I thought he was doing well considering he had received no previous training. He now is 9 mos. old.; so training at this age can be more difficult. But he is coming along. The excitement of his day of late is seeing the coffee can be put on the floor. As long as I can hear it being rolled around I know he is okay. He did master opening the lid however. So I do supervise him. He doesn't understand why he has the "Supervised" and "Non-Supervised" Toys...but I know what he is capable of tearing apart.
Your furry baby is so cute!!! I'm still waiting for a friend to come to take some pics of Babe. So hang in there--he lives in Northern CA. :o
Thank You

I use fresh or canned pineapple either works and Scrappy loves pineapple. Just put it in with the food. You may need to dice it a little smaller for a puppy as the chunks may be too big ;)

If you find something that works can you let me know? LB's been doing well, but sometimes....she's just way to quick for us.
Thanks!

I would go with Brens Idea then and add Pineapple to LBs food or give as a treat.

I know this thread is a little old, but I had this problem with Mikey for a short time. OMG I was so grossed out. He was eating his and Mia's poop. I read that there might be something missing from their diet, that they get from the poop, ewwwwwwww what could that be? :confuse2: Also undigested food can make them do this. I had to watch Mikey like a hawk after I discovered this. :tongue6:
Thank God he only did it for a couple of weeks. I also read that it's a puppy thing. :)
Thanks for the post. He is getting a chunk of pineapple twice daily--he has stopped doing this. Also, poop is picked up immediately--it was before but he is quick.
A question for you--Are any of your furry kids a rescue dog or an older dog you adopted? I'm experiencing discipline issues w/ Babe--bites; barks; stubborn; can't be groomed; etc. He's almost 10 mos. old now.
Thanks
One pineapple chunk cut up twice daily resolved issue in several days.
hows the pineapple thing going?

I was also told that a Fig Newton a day does the same thing.
