My two largest fears with having such a small doggie... So far, vet says thumbs up! No knee popping at all with my little boy...and so far, no reason to be concerned about his liver! I'm thrilled as I had literally been holding my breath! A breeders health guarantee is nice (and we have one) but really, I'm sure most feel the same, the heartbreak is there... He's MY baby now, no matter what. The only minor annoyance now is the tear staining and the vet said just wait till he's a little older and see if it starts to clear up. (And keep his face washed and dried...) it really does no bother me much...but it does kind of remind me of having a toddler with a cold...

Yep, keeping his face washed and dry is a key. And of course teething will cause some serious staining which there isn't much you can do about that until they fall out and he gets his secondary teeth in. Also food can be a cause and I also use distilled water to keep the staining down. Glad he had a good report from the vet! :smlove2:

I am glad all is well. Nemo had the Patella surgery on December 4 .A breeder can't guarantee that your dog wont get Patella, it happens.. I pray to God your baby will never have it, but it is something that just happens in small dogs. I think it's hit or miss . Nemo has Patella in his right leg , but for now he is fine only if it goes to grade 3 will surgery be required..
Good Luck and please post some pictures..

I'm so sorry Nemo had to have the surgery, my close friend has a four month old Yorkie who has "the worst" case of luxation he has ever seen. They are giving some supplements to strengthen the ligaments and planning surgery for when she is bigger. She is right at four pounds... I guess my point is that I looked for a breeder willing to "put it in writing" for character reasons....but really, no matter what happens Dash is my baby and I will not "trade" him for another puppy. I'm sorry, I know that sounds stupid...but I wanted the breeder to show some faith in her own pups...and I know that the patella thing can go back many many generations...I just know that for me...no matter what his future holds, I will take care of him. He is like one of my children...Only a little more helpless, since he will always be dependent on me to get his food, etc....
