Ive read over and over that food can have a lot to do with it...so which foods are best. Dash came with a bag of Eukanuba,(which it seems like he will NEVER finish...) but I was wondering which foods are best. How about Chicken Soup? Merrick? Natures Recipe? These are all I have used with my other dogs....

Two of the best brands I have tried that have helped with tear staining is Chicken Soup and Canidae. I am not sure about the others.

:D Hi,
I really believe food plays a big role as well as genetics. Staining and Nemo have never been a problem for me he's face is white and he never tears.
I will say when he was on Nutro he did start to stain. I put him on Wellness and he stopped. I have found that any food I give him that has chicken or lamb in it he will stain. I think all these babies are different it's like trial and error, meaning you have to keep trying foods to see which one works best.
I dont know who Nemos parents are so I dont know if they had a staining problem, but I dont think they did. He never stained only with certain food..

I used the Natural Balance Venison/brown rice and the Natural Balance Duck/potato and am very satisfied. I Also added Solid Gold Wee Bits to their diet and they are doing fine on it. I tried some lamb and Kallie began to chew her feet so eliminated that from the diet and she has stopped. So a lot is trial and error. But dog foods can cause staining!!
