Ok well we had decided to board the dogs while we are gone this summer either at
www.stillhousepets.com
or
www.alldogsresort.com
I have reservations at both places and will cancel one when my mom visits them and decides which she likes better. My best friend also said she would watch them, which I think were going to do because she has a backyard and will walk them and play with them. My question is what do you think I should bring with them while were gone??
I mean toys obviously, their beds, crates, food, bowls, harness/leash... Anything else??

Any meds they may need (including monthly meds, like Frontline), their vet's number, a tshirt that smells like their people..

T-shirts!! Great idea!! Thank you!!
I will take meds too..
Question about vets number? I have copies of all their vet records for whomever watches them but should I find a vet in the area that will take them for emergencies ahead of time?? We will be 1000 miles away from their normal vet...

No problem (my girls get left behind for annual Disney trips:wink5:). Absolutely have a folder with their vet records and reserch the vets in that area. You can check the Better Business Bureau to start with.

Sounds like you have all the essentials already covered. Try to relax and enjoy your vacation. How long will your fluffs be boarded?

For a whole week. Today we decided my friend would watch them. She is with her mom for the summer and her mom has a great yard for them to play, lots of guests to play with, Allie (my friend watching them) walks everyday so she'll just take them along with her. I think it will work out better than a kennel. We will keep one kennel reserved though just in case.

Awwwww, that sounds like a much better plan and your fluffs will be much happier with one-on-one attention.

THAT is the "perfect" plan!! YAY..........I'm so glad that you will have that worry off your mind and can enjoy your vacation with the family. Good for you!!!! I know it puts my mind more at ease when the fluffs are cared for by a friend or family member!.

I know. I don't know why I didn't think to ask her in the first place instead of stressing over a kennel/resort. She suggested it and I was like "Well, I really don't want to burdern you" (secretly jumping up and down) and she said she would love to.. So god bless her!! She has no idea how spoiled these pups are LOL

Me either silly, I did suggest getting a friend or something. Whether they went there or the friend came to you.:D
I think having your friend car for them is a wonderful idea and much better than a kennel. Although the ones you were looking at were very nice if you need to go that way.
Try to relax, we left our babies for 3wks and although I missed them I knew they would miss us, I also knew they were safe and in good hands. I will say I was so glad when my holiday came to an end, I missed my morning kisses:D
They will do fine, they have each other, they have their things from home that smells like them and they will be spoiled rotten with your girlfriend, what more could one want.
Now start relaxing and get in hoilday cruise mood girlfriend

I feel I need to remind you to make sure your friend knows these are VERY special souls she is caring for, not just "dogs". Never leave them alone in the backyard, please.
As Maltese lovers we can easily forget that not everyone understands exactly our "world" with our dogs.
One just can't be too careful now a days.
Hope you are able to enjoy every moment of your vacation!

LOL thanks Mel, we definatly live in a world all our own don't we? She DEFINATLY knows how much these dogs mean to me/us. She always complains that I don't come see her becuase I won't leave my dogs :lol2::lol2:
The backyard is more for them to exercise off leash and in an enclosed area rather than be left alone. She will have their crates for if she decides to go anywhere and also we have set up doggy daycare for the whole week so if she needs to go somewhere for more than a few hours she can just drop them off at daycare.
I can always rely on you to point out the precautions we need to take for these little sweet souls, thank you again Mel!!
