Getting a maltese!!

So, as you have read in the title, i'm getting a maltese. He will be coming sometime next week, and I need a name for him. Im struggling so hard with this.
Ive come up with a couple and here they are:
- Alexander, Alex for short
- Derby

Those are a few my mom and I have come up with. I really need help with this
I didnt seem to have this much of a problem naming my other dog (his name's Rockstar, Rocky for short). But for some reason, im having a hard time with this one.
Any suggestions? Please tell :]

My suggestion would be to wait till he comes home, sometimes you can pick a name then get the dog and think ' nope that name doesn't at all suit him'.
So chill out and wait till he comes home.

Now CONGRATULATIONS on getting your little guy. Where is he coming from?, how old is he? What made you choose a Maltese? last of all do you have any pics of him??:hearter: We love pics here.

He is coming from Iowa.
I think he is about 7 weeks old. And they said it would be about a week to a week and a half before he's ready to leave.
I chose a maltese because i think they're so adorable, and my mom and her mom used to breed them when my mom was a little girl so they know their fair share of stuff about the breed.
I initially wanted a yorkie, but then I thought about it and I didnt really want to get a breed that I didn't know a whole lot about.

Please wait till your baby is home, once you know the personality a name might come easier.
Also the pup should be with his mom till he is 12 weeks, so you might want to ask this breeder to do that.'

I like the name Derby thats cute..
But I have to say I had a name picked out for my girl and I changed it.. Came out of nowhere too! :tounge:

The puppy really should be with his mother until he is 12 weeks.. Maybe you could ask your breeder if he could stay a little longer with his mommy?

Hi and welcome to Maltese Talk!!!

I am sure you are excited about getting your new little fluffy boy.........can't wait for pictures. I think it's a good idea about waiting until he arrives and something in his personality/looks may give you an idea of what to name him.

I agree with Jess about allowing him to stay with the breeder a bit longer to help him socialize and learn the "pack" mentality.
