They had a puppy maltese it was so cute i put my hand down and it started licking it and nibbling it so i grabbed a toy out of its crate and it took the toy from me and went back into his crate and start playing with the toy it was so funny. i cant wait to get my doggie =-D

Oh Phew, I thought for a split second you bought that cute puppy in the window. I am so pleased with you for not succumbing that takes some resolve to leave that puppy there....

Well I will fess up now. The black and white Shih Tzu x Maltese that started me looking at Shih Tzu was in a pet shop :fainted:

My hubby was in there doing a service call ( yes a petshop that sells pets is a client) and saw them and fell in love. I was like screaming Noooo at him when he was telling me about these sweet puppies lol I was half expecting him to have one outside in the car. :fainted:

Bren, I honestly didn't think we had Puppy Mills like in the US. I thought the dogs in the petshop windows were from backyard breeders. Still I am not saying that is good, but it isn't like the states is it??????????????.

Any Info on Puppy Mills in AUSTRALIA, cause I have only heard of them in the US.

Bek there is sadly a member of our Australian goverment who owned/s a puppymill and sadly we are as bad as the States and the conditions are as appalling.

Last year one got closed in my town. The owner of the mill came on TV to plead his case

Said if he is closed down all his staff would be out of work and who would supply the petshops if he was put out of business:confused:

I was gobsmacked and started yelling at the TV The pictures are on the net I will try and find the link as it will sicken you to see the filth the dogs lived in and the wire cages stacked one on top of the other where the poop and wee flowed thru to the cages below. :fainted:

And this is the worse part he claimed his dogs were well looked after....... why??? Because he is a vet in my town :(

A vet who owned a puppymill and saw no wrong in what he was doing.

A lot of purebred show potential or even show dogs make their way to puppymills. (there is an Aussie Pure Breed forum that has a horrifying story of a little poodle rescued from a mill by its breeder if you want the link PM me it is worth reading) I tend to think that instead of a spay/neuter contract perhaps breeders should keep the puppies longer and release them to their new homes once they are desexed. JMO

A breeder friend of mine told me that the majority of BYB's sell to Pet shops.

Once, I was totally clueless about all this stuff but with all the talk about the mill in my town I was made much more aware and I was sickened by the life some of those poor dogs had to endure. Some were just all bones and could barely stand they were that weak and this place was owned by a vet. :(

it may happen friday may not... shes beign called into work but shes going to try something... we are still trying to figure out a good day but hopefully soon. ive all ready baby proofed the masterbedroom/bath/closet =-) even chicken wire outside along the bottom side of the gate in preparation its a slotted privacy fence so a big dog it would work for but little it wouldnt. but ill post pics as soon as possible believe me.

as for the job (its work) lol desk job not my thing but i need ankle surgery so i dont want to strain it more. my job id like is somehting like swat. preferred i.c.e. lol. =-D

Update:

she wants to try (attempt) to give up her other dog elvis. She wants to possibly try to give him to us but he got depressed last time she went on a trip for a week and didnt eat much. So what im thinking is pick up casper (if all goes well) keep him for about a week or so then pick up elvis so he may be distracted when he sees casper and may cheer him up. If this doesnt work im not sure how we can get him unattached to her.
