As most of you know, my hubby and I will be bringing home one (maybe two) precious furbabies. I think we are going to be getting the dogs groomed so they won't have really long fur, but not really short either... just kinda medium length... what kind of brushes do ya'll recommend? Any other maltese grooming tips?:)

also shampoo sweety
The Chris Christensen Gold Series Pin brush is pricey but good, as are their combs & other grooming supplies. I have to say the most important thing is to be sure to use them faithfully. :)

I couldn't afford the CC burshes so found an alternative that works well and they can be found on J&BWholesale site. I have all four of the pin brushes and they work nice. I've never owned or ued the CC brushes and if I could afford them, I might buy one. Right now is not that time. The important thing that was told to me is to buy a pin brush that does not have the little balls at the tip of each pin. AND Brushing daily is a necessity. I have both my maltese and yorkie in full coat and it takes daily brushing.....not every other day but EVERY day! Takes just a little time if I do it every day. Also never ever brush the coat when it is dry. Use a little water and leave in conditioner mixed together in a spray bottle before brushing. I use Petsilk and Coat Handler products the most and I am pleased with them. I'm sure I could talk all night but I'm tired! This will at least get you started! LOL:)

Hello, I think the Chris Christensen brushes and combs are most definately worth it. The combs and brushes are gentle on the malts delicate hair.
I use the Fushion Brush #27 and the Buttercomb 006 and 008. Dont use a slicker brush it destroys the hair..
Good Luck,
ANDREA~:D
PS I also used the shampoo and conditioner.

We use the Chris Christensen Gold Series pin brush, and we love it. It's so much easier to brush their hair with a good brush like that. Like Morkie4 said, if not the CC brush, then a pin brush without the little balls on the end is good too. We also use the Coat Handler shampoo, conditioner, and detangling spray...We just got it and love it! It makes their hair very soft and shiny :)

Oh my, I didnt realise we had a husband and wife on the board ..... How cool :)
I use a human pin brush a pricey one but. :)
I am in Au though and CC products are not easily found here but what ever brush you use never use it on a dry coat. ;) I do use CC ice on ice though and love it.... I am trying to eke it out and I do notice the difference when I don't use it.
Is there a website for the coat handler shampoo and detangler?? And the Pet Silk, what is that? I need new stuff for Bella's coat to make it shiney.
Or maybe the pet stores carry it.
Any suggestions??

I have two of the CC brushes. The gold series and the fusion. I got a smaller one in the fusion. I like them a lot. I have one of their buttercombs, too.
Actually, the comb I use most is only around $5.00 at Needs N Desires.com. It has rotating stainless steel teeth which help getting out matts. I like the web site. They are VERY nice people and the service is great and the shipping is fast.
If you sign up for the newsletter thingy.. you will be notified about sales. That's when I got my second CC brush...:)

I recommend using Plush Puppy products. Their products are great and the prices aren't too bad. They also have some nice combs and brushes.

They have a Canadian store and a US store. http://www.needsndesires.com/usastore/usaindex.php
Try that. On the website there is a place where you choose Canada or US.

http://www.needsndesires.com/usastore/usaindex.php Here is one place I go to get things. They have the CC (Chris Christnsen) products and Coat Handler products and a bunch of other stuff.
s
PetSilk is another brand of hair products - shampoos, conditioners, oils, etc...
If her hair is really dry, you may want to look into supplements (like Missing Link or Solid Gold products) and make sure she's on the best food for her.
Thanks for the site. What brush and comb would suggest to use? I saw several. I saw where they carry the Angel Eyes, have you used that and would recommend Angel Eyes?
I feed her Merrick's Puppy Plate (chunky chicken w/veggies) and Evo dry food. I will check out the Gold you told me about and see where I can buy that. I would really like to get her on all dry food, I think she is spoiled already with the canned. She eats really good and is healthy. :)

If you do a search on this site, there is another thread that talks about Angel Eyes and other staining products. One thing to watch for in the food is anything that will make the staining worse such as beet, tomato, etc...
Lots of people swear by the Missing Link supplement. It's a powder you sprinkle on their food or some yogurt or whatever. It didn't do much for my dogs, so I'm trying the Solid Gold Seameal and their Yucca product to see if I can tell any difference.
There is also a thread on brushes too! :) I use the CC brushes - the gold series 20mm and the fusion series 20mm. The fusion brush I bought in a smaller size than the gold series cause one of my dogs is really little and the bigger brush was way too big for her.
I just ordered a brush, comb, shampoo, conditioner and a detangler spray from the CC website.
Thank you,

Becky you will really like the CC products. I am very pleased with them. I have been using the Shampoo, Conditioner and Detangler on Darlii getting her ready for the ring and here is a picture of how she looks after just a month of working with her. The picture in my Avitar is of her also. Taken about a week ago.
Oh by the way I really like your name.........lol
