So, our baozi has a few behvorial things we'd like to improve.
Sometimes when I'm sitting on the floor playing with him, he jumps on me (which is ok sometimes but not all the time), and sometimes he mouths my hands (just licks and puts my hand in my mouth, never biting or aggressively, just playfully) when I'm putting him or when I'm playing with him, and sometimes when he's playing with me he'd start scratching my legs when he's playing with me, and sometimes it hurt when I have bare legs! We do get his nails cut sometimes but it still hurts when he has any bit of nails.
So, what's the best ways to solve this? We've been doing the "OW" then ignore thing for the mouthing, should we do that for the scratching too? Any input?

i think you have to first decide if jumping on you is OK ! or not OK .gently push him away for a couple of times as soon as the scratching starts and stop playing or the affection and ignore him , he/she will stop. consistancy is the key.
good luck

I am sorry to breake this news to you, but this is puppy play. You have to decide if you want to play with him or not ! Play biting is ok, but if it hurts teach him how much he is allowed to bite and don't let him scratch to the point it hurts. During play they have a tendency to forget how far they can go especially when they are puppies. If they don't lessen, stop playing.

He is being a puppy and all those things are what puppies do until they get a bit older but you can begin their training now with correction. BUT what I highlighted is one thing you should not do......it will confuse him that he can do it sometimes and yet be trained it is a bad behavior. You have to be consistant when training a puppy for them to learn acceptable behavior and those that are just not going to be allowed.
My fluffs are not puppies but even their nails hurt right after I have clipped them....it's just one of those things you have to put up with or wear long pants all the time. :p :p

I think you have received some good ideas to get you started from both sites. I really believe that whatever you decide, consistency is the key. The book JMM recommended would be really helpful for you too.
