I thought i would post this as i have been researching about pain meds after my dee dee has been so sick for 4 weeks from metacam given by vet on empty stomach while she was on temaril p after i requested tramadol for her sore leg. I had to take her to internal medicine specialist after she started pooping blood on monday and she now has severe colitis in small and large intestines as she vomits up dry food so i have to wet it. I thought this was a good explanation of all the different options
oh and to shed some more light my dd is hypothyroid, mvd and severe atopic dermatitis and prior to metacam had perfect blood work , urine, thyroid panel, fecal and titers just 3 days prior to adminstering of metacam.
While i am not totally against nsaids I have learned they should not be given on empty stomach, while dog is on steroids, if a dog has ibd or colitis whether acute or chronic, liver disease dog or kidney disease dog
