Thank you Carol for posting this site!!:D
It did answer some of my questions and I will be going back to see if it does answer my other questions about testing/vaccination!!

Thanks again!

Hmmm.... I'm going to have to go back and get my research I did a while back because that is not what I remember reading from Dr. Jean Dodd. That article made it out like the titers were not very useful at all and I don't think that's true.

I know what you mean......It's like the Dr. Spock thing. Spank your kid........next year don't spank......following year, spank, next year don't!!

It does get a bit confusing when you read conflicting points of view. The article alluded to the fact that there is not any way of gauging the amount of vaccines in the blood that would eliminate the need for shots and several other factors that certainly is confusing. I just wish "science and Drs." would get it right and make it easy on us lay people!

I think they said it could be useful but not to the degree that others have made it out to be.........confirmed and conclusive that the titers reveals whether vaccines are needed. At least that is some of what I got out of it.

So who do you believe???:confused::confused::confused:

I titer mine yearly and will continue to do so. Even with vaccine all that does is introduce the virus into your fluffs system so that their immune system learns how to fight it. I don't believe in injecting chemicals/poisons into their system unless it's necessary. If I could get away without the rabies vaccine I'd do that also. Supposedly the rabies vaccine last around 8-10 yrs. and only now have most states approved a 3 yr vaccine. With HW meds I only give them 9 months out of the year and every 45 days not 30. Just my research. Off my soap box now. :o Ok back to regularly scheduled programming.:D

You are so passionate about the titers testing (I knew I would see your post). But did you read the article and what did you think of it????:confused::confused:

Yes I read it and if you notice at the end it says that the general vet population will do more investigations on it since more and more owners are asking for it. Titers are more expensive then just giving the vaccine but if it puts less poison in their little bodies I'm willing to spend it. Titers gives you a gauge as to how much concentration is in their bodies. Last time they got titered the only thing they were low on was the Corona virus one and I chose not to give it to them. You usually catch the viruses at kennels and dog shows. I don't even let my fluffs touch the floor at the Vets office. The only place mine can pick up anything at all and it's slim to none is at the groomers and the dog park. Everyone has their own opinion (vets) and I just do alot of research on it. I am a member of a Yahoo group which intensely scrutinize and research vaccine necessities in animals and humans. If there was a way to get around rabies I would also. I believe more fluffs have died from reactions to vaccine then rabies in the last several years.
