I will be having my 6 mo. Bella spayed this Thursday and her baby teeth out also. I would appreciate any advice on caring for my baby when I bring her home :)

THANKS SO MUCH,

:) Hi,
I don't know about the females, I have a male. Nemo was fine the next day, the night I brought him home all he wanted to do was rest. I think for the females it's a little harder than the males, but I am sure she will be fine in a day or two after. Is she staying over night? Nemo had like 4 or 5 teeth removed (I can't remember). The best advice I got was when I dropped him off before surgery, someone told me to bring something of his with him (I brought his blanket) he did feel more comfortable, I guess they have something from home so it eases them a little. I did have to give him pain meds for 5 days after the surgery, but the next day he acted like nothing happened. I am sure all will go great. Please keep us updated on Bella..
Good Luck,
ANDREA~:)

Females tend to want to lick the area. My vet does inside stitches but I tried really hard to keep her from licking it. I also asked the vet for some pain meds for her to keep her comfortable as possible for the first couple of days. Other than that they spring back pretty quick. I just gave her a lot of TLC and sat with her and did a lot of petting! Your Bella will do fine, it's you I'm worried about. Mommies always take it the hardest!!!:D

My little Bella is doing good. She had her hernia repaired along with her surgery and her top front baby teeth out, her other baby teeth are still tight, the vet said she was behind on her baby teeth coming out, to just give it time. And, I had an ID chip put in her neck. Has anyone else had that done to their babies?? She has been sleeping a lot but her mommy hasn't :fainted: : .....LOL. She has licked her incision a lot but not chewing on it, she is a little uncomfortable when she tries to walk, her tummy feels wierd to her....just glad to have this behind us now.

Thanks for being sweet..:smlove2:

Glad Bella is doing well. Both of my malts are micro-chipped. Sadie never licked at her stitches or even acted like she knew they were there. She will be 1 next month and she still has 2 baby teeth. I now, my bad, not having it taken care of yet...she was 5 months old when she was spayed and too young to remove them and those 2 just are not going to come out on their own...too bad because the vet said it is going to cost $500 to have them pulled out now. I have put it off because I just hate to have her put under anthesthia or however you spell that...

Bella's mom......

Glad that she is doing great! Mia and I go through this process April 4th. I am not sure if she is going to need any teeth pulled yet though. She is 4 months old and will be 5 months when she gets spayed. When do they start loosing teeth?

Hi Krystal,

The vet told me that they should lose their baby teeth between 4 and 6 months, but Bella is a late bloomer :) , I guess!! Bella is up playing this morning like nothing ever happened, she is eating good. She will have her stitches out on March 19th. Your baby will do fine, I saw your pictures and she looks just like my Bella when she was that age, and she is now 6 months. I wished I could post pictures of her but don't know how  When your baby has her surgery she will just sleep and will want you to be with her all the time. Good luck on yours and keep me posted on her......

Kallie licked her stitching as well (hers were inside, no outside) and finally made alittle hole but no blood or anything. But I took her to the vet right away and he said she was fine and that it would heal okay as he double stictched the inside. Well he was right! No scars anywhere, healed beautifully!

So glad Bella is doing great! She will spring back quick, she's so young! Kallie was 2 when we had her spayed......we bought her when she was two and they did not believe in spaying.........duh:tongue6:

I had her microchipped as well. She didn't have to be put to sleep or anything and she barely flinched! But so glad I had her done, gives me piece of mind; of course also did Toby!
