Honestly I have to say Mitzy was a spur of the moment purchase..
I have always been drawn to yorkies and went to buy my first one and the breeder I went to had an "accidental" breeding (not sure if this is true or not) of morkies. She had a yorkie colored puppy and a white one, and was going to get the "yorkie" morkie :tounge: until I saw Mitzy and was IN LOVE :hearter::hearter: I snatched her up and went home with her the same day, knowing nothing about maltese :o:o or morkies

My Haircutter has two Malts the last one a darling rescue. I have wanted a dog for many years and he convinced me that I have the heart for a Maltese. I was looking for about a year, and seriously for several months. We got back from the OBX and I told my husband there was no way out of it. The next week we had him. Oh yes I also took what was set aside for a dental implant, what fun are they anyway?(dental implants not the dog :lol2:) Got the Malt instead. Victory!!

None of the above!
I went about in a very clinical way: I wanted a small dog to keep me company when I was travelling, non shedding and very cuddly!!!!
Took me at least 6 months of research before I decided on Maltese!
Took me a year before I found one and now a year and a half after getting my first one, I have 5!!
Very addictive!! LOL!!!:D:D:D

I picked "appearance" but the real reason was because I saw one six years before I got Zoe as a pup and fell instantly in love. I wanted one then, but our Sophie was an older dog who didn't really like other dogs (much less a crazy puppy). When we lost Sophie, it was an easy choice.
I love my girls because they are hypoallergenic and has the sweetest faces and their size..but the main reason would be they are so devoted and loving.

I chose all but the last option. I loved everything about Maltese & thought about it for mths before I actually went hunting for one. I'd actually thought about a Yorkie, but once I saw a picture of a Malt, I was deadset on one.

I chose all but the last also.
I fell in love with the Maltese years ago. Everytime I saw a picture I drooled over it! Was a long time before I saw one in person.
I did a lot of research on the breed.
I also fell in love with the Havanese. Was going back and forth on the two breeds. I liked that the Havanese came in different colors. I have always been partial to black dogs.
Then while I was looking on PetFinder, Vincent's picture just pulled at me. I put in a application. Picked him up 5 days later!
Now I can't imagine my life without him. :)

I picked all of the above except for the last one. I gave it lots of thought about even getting another dog after I lost my Kelsey........just too painful to think of having to go through the pain of another dog and having to let go. Took me nine months to start looking at puppies, but wasn't considering it seriously. Then googled and came across Petfinder and a maltese was listed. I had nooooooooooooo idea about the breed but went to AKC and checked it out and a few breeder sites to read up on it. Found a video of maltese fluffs in full coat running and romping...........showed the hubby and that was it. We were hooked on the maltese from the vid and from the description of their personality. We didn't get a puppy but did get the fluff off of Petfinder.....our sweet Kallie who was 2 1/2 years old at the time. What a find!!!! We also loved the Yorkie breed and stumbled on one to be rehomed on Petfinder again........loved his cuteness and brought him home. But the hubby had a special place in his heart for "female" maltese and we ended up with two more maltese and have no regrets!!! :hearter::hearter:

at my husband's office....I asked the girl I knew who was barking. She said she got a puppy from her mom, and she brought this little, loving, sweet puppy up to the window, and I fell in love with the breed right there.
I went online, did research, bought 3 Maltese books and decided I HAD to have one! I had never seen a Malt in person or had the opportunity to play with one - I was on a mission :lol2:
I found a great breeder, Chrisman Maltese in PA, and we interviewed each other, and he had a girl for me *YIPPEE* I had to wait a little bit, but she was well worth the wait :partytime:
I love their personality, how smart they are, how cute, small and loving.

After having a Cockapoo and a Doberman and dealing with all the hair I swore off dogs, until my husband said one of the drivers at work had Maltese puppies. He knew how I hated the hair all over but we got Max and that was it for me. Now Jack is the love of my life.
