I got the call today :cry2::cry2::cry2::cry2: The call from my mother telling me my childhood dog had passed :cry2::cry2:
My mom said that she was laying outside in the sun all morning in her spot. Just enjoying the nice weather. She said the cat would not leave her side (they never got along) so my mom had a feeling today was the day and told Lucy it would be ok if she wanted to go.. And she did :cry2: My parents took her to the pet cemetary and had her buried. I just wish I could have been there with her in her final moments, to let her know how much she meant to me, although I think she knew. I remember the day my parents brought her home, I was 9 or 10. She was so tiny and so sweet. She's a chocolate lab, was a chocolate lab. Me and my sister did everything with her. She even played barbies with us, stealing their shoes and clothes. She would let us do anything to her, she didn't care she just wanted us to be happy. I'm so sad. I want to be able to kiss her and lay with her outside in the grass. We did that alot when I was at home. We would just lay outside in the grass, soaking up the sun. I'm glad that's how she chose to go. I wish I could have been with her.. I miss her :cry2::cry2:
I attached a photo of us from 2 years ago.. Laying out back in the grass.. Soaking up the sun. I imagine she there when she passed :cry2: wishing I was with her
If Tears Could Build A Stairway
If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again.
No farewell words were spoken, no time to say good-bye,
You were gone before I knew it, and only God knows why.
My heart's still active in sadness, and secret tears still flow;
What it meant to lose you no one can ever know.
But now I know you want me to mourn for you no more,
To remember all the happy times; life still has much in store.
Since you'll never be forgotten, I pledge to you today:
A hallowed place within my heart is where you'll always stay.
In Loving Memory of Lucy

I'm so sorry - I know how hard it is to lose a pet. It has been over three months since I lost my little Sammy-bunny and sometimes I still forget for a minute that he's gone. It sounds like she was a sweet baby and you have lots of good memories!

Oh Jess, she is beautiful. I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like she died peacefully. I think it was so sweet that the cat stayed by her side. Aren't animals just the most wonderful creatures on the planet?
My thoughts are with you.

Oh, Jess...I'm so sorry to hear of Lucy's passing. I'm sending great big hugs to you now :cry2: I love the picture of you and Lucy. It sounds like she went peacefully doing what she loved to do - lay in the sun in the grass.
Do you know about the website for pet loss where you can list Lucy's name, your name, and other details about her? There is a candle ceremony every Monday night around the world if you want that link.
Big Hugs,

Oh Jess , what a beautiful life you and your family gave Lucy. It is the worst heartache in the world to loose a family member. I bet when Lucy closed her eyes the last thing she saw was all of you and felt all that love at that very moment. She was indeed beautiful. I have been there two years ago and the pain gave way to the most wonderful memories. Wishing you comfort.

Sounds like you have only fond memories of your Lucy! I am so so so sorry that she has gone to rainbow bridge! It is never easy to say good bye especially long distance. But it does sound like she went peacefully. My friend has a chocolate lab and says she is such a wonderful dog with a great temperment and wonderful personality. I do love the picture you posted of the two of you together getting some rays........a cherished picture I am sure!

Thank you all for your kind words.. Its hard not being able to go and see my family and being alone for this. My sister said she went home Tuesday and she was so skinny, she had not been eating well for the last week :crying::crying: I'm just glad she went on her terms and decided it was time that we were to let her go.. I honestly feel that she has been ready for a long time (her health was not the best in the last few months) but she was making sure my family would be ok without her.. Waiting for us to be in a place that she could leave peacefully..
Thanks again
Reenie I would love that site when you get a chance

Dear Jess,
This helped me and my sister when we went through what you are right now. I hope you find some comfort in it. If you scroll down, you will see a link for adding your pet to the list. Lucy will never be removed from the list. Make sure that you add some special details and be specific with her name so that you will be able to find her there when you want to visit the site.

Oh my sweet Jess...I am sorry I missed this post (just barely getting caught up). I am so very sorry and I understand about feeling so lost being so far from your family when something like that happens. My childhood dog Pugs (cocker spaniel) passed a few years ago and my mom was a wreck and I felt so hopeless.
She was a beautiful lab and the picture is just adorable. I hope all the members of your family are doing better and know that I am thinking of you and them during this difficult time. (Mitzy kisses also help heal a broken heart I hear.)

Jess your story brought tears to my eyes. I had a black lab for a best friend as a teenager. She came to live with my husband and myself after I married. My husband and I went on vacation and asked a friend to come check on her. Shadow dug underneath the fence and was run over. I was devastated. :( I understand the loss...
