 Does anyone "pull out" their dogs hair inside their ears? My vet did this on his last visit. I was mortified. I would clip them but pull them?

I think some may have more ear hair than other's and perhaps need this done....

I always fondle Scrappy's ears along with the bottom of his paws so that he is used to them being touched but so far Scrappy hasn't needed his ears plucked and he is now 3yrs old.:)

I HAVE to pull out the hair. Chloe is very prone to ear infections and believe me, once you see a nasty ear infection from not doing it regularly, you will know why it is necessary.

BTW, It does not seem to bother Chloe in the least when I do it.

Jack gets his ear hair plucked every 5 weeks when he goes for his full bath treatment. Our 1st Maltese had a bad ear infection once and the smell was just terrible. I don't pluck the hair, no way, I would probably cry thinking I was hurting him.

Yes, I pluck the hair from both the kids, they don't like it so I do a little every other day and I'm quick about it.........also put some yellow powder just inside the ear to ease the hair out (somone suggested it to me). So eventually I get all the hair out! They really don't make a sound when I do it, so I know it doesn't hurt. You just have to be careful you are only getting the hair in the ear canal and not from the inside ear flap. Gets easier every time I do it!:D

I pull LB's ear hair, my vet taught me how to do it. It doesn't seem to hurt her and she sits still till I'm done, she won't when I try to brush her. I'm glad I do, because one time I did there was wax buildup, yuck:p

Eeeeew just sent me checking Scrappy's ears :fainted:

I do pull ear hair just not religiously. When brushing, cuddling etc I will wrap a fine hair around my finger and with a gentle tug or a slight turn of Scrappy's head it comes away but I would not say his ears are hair free.
