I think Boo swallowed his bullystick last night. I couldn't find it anywhere. He was laying behind me chewing on it,Hannah was chewing on hers. After 15 mins, Boo got up & went to get a drink of water. He didn't come back,so I decided to put the sticks up.I took Hannahs, but couldn't find Boos. I looked everywhere. I went shopping this afternoon & when I came back,I found 3 piles of vomit on the floor. He is eating, although not as enthusiastic as Hannah & he did have a normal poop about 30 mins ago. I'm debating about calling the vet. I tend to panic over everything, but I hate to bother the vet at home. I can't say for sure who upchucked, but it looked like too much for Hannah & she rarely vomits,so I think Boo did it. Guess I better call the vet & let him talk to me like I'm stupid or something.:(

Not sure if you give him bully sticks on a regular bases and this is the first time it has happened but my kids love the bully sticks but three of them throw up when I give them one..............I saw them throw up after eating one so I know it was the cause.

What do you think the vet will do for Boo???? I have a feeling he will tell you to wait it out and see if the bully stick gets digested; I don't know what else there is to do........what are you thinking he will tell you????

1. I think its a good idea to call the vet JUST TO BE SAFE :wink5:
2. Like Carol, I think he will probably just say wait it out, and if the vomiting continues to bring him in and watch for signs of dehydration
3. Poor Boo :(:( Hope he feels better soon

Carol, they both get the bullysticks pretty regularly. I let them chew on one almost every day for about 30 mins. Neither have ever vomited from them before. I did call the vet & he did tell me to wait it out & that the stomach acid should take care of it. I guess I was afraid the bullystick would get stuck in his stomach or intestines & maybe there was something he could give him to help it travel through. Boo is prone to get pancreatitis,so I worry about him when he starts vomiting or if he gets an upset tummy. He's given me more than my share of scares over swallowing or eating things he shouldn't. The vet thinks I worry too much & need to get a hobby.:o I just hope the bullystick doesn't give him pancreatitis. Boo & Hannah love their Moo bullysticks & Boo harrasses me every day until he gets one. He's a bit spoiled & a little bossy.;) I don't know how he managed to swallow it,but he did. Guess I let it get too small before I took it away,so it's my fault.:(

Thanks Jess, that's exactly what the vet said. He's drinking plenty of water & the vet said to not feed him much for the next 24 hrs.

OH NO! I sure do hope that Boo will be alright, SOON. GADS, I would be nuts too, so NO, I don't feel you are over reacting at all.

God bless you both.

Oh I hope Boo is alright, I know Oscar has a tendency to swallow some treats whole and it scares me that he is going to get something stuck, we just watch him close. Get better Boo Thanksgiving is coming.

Boo is doing fine.Hopefully the bullystick will pass through sometime today. He hasn't vomited anymore & he was harrassing me last night, wanting a bullystick. I think he's addicted to those things. I'm not giving him one for a few days though. Now that I know he can swallow a pretty good sized chunk,I'll have to get rid of them sooner.

LuLu would swallow hers whole too if I didn't watch her the whole time. Gracie gracefully chews on her for hours...if she isn't guarding it...LOL

I surely hope your vet would not speak to you like you are stupid. We are all human AND bully sticks ARE made for our fluffs right???

I have a feeling Boo is going to be fine.

Sue, I am sorry Boo worried you so much. I am glad to hear he is feeling better.

My girls love bullysticks too and I only give it to them for limited time and then take them away. When the get too small, I throw the end out (just to avoid anyone swallowing them).

Please keep us posted

Thanks everyone for your concern & thoughtfulness for Boo. He's still doing ok,but has not had a poop today so far. That's kinda worrying me. He seems to feel fine though & is eating normaly, but I did go light on the food today. Keep your fingers crossed that he poops soon & I can let out a big sigh of relief.

I would be careful that there is not a blockage from swallowing it. Sometimes these products will not digest properly. Hope Boo will have a poops soon.

those are so fattening :( i thought you stopped giving him the bully sticks :( after dex almost died from pancreatitis that was the first thing i cut out so please do not give him those as they are super greasy feeling and i would not chance it especially since he has had pancreatitis before

It takes 24-48hrs for something to pass completely through the system

I did stop with the redbarn bullystick, but switched to the Moo brand later. Are they really that fattening? They don't look or feel greasy at all. I've only let them chew for 30 mins since then. I need to go pick up some more C.E.T dental chews.

I guess it passed without any problem,he's been pooping ok & is fine now.

Thanks, He's pooping ok now, normal, like always.Eating,drinking,playing. I never saw the whole bullystick in his poop, just shreds of it.Guess his stomach acids did their job.

Thanks Melanie,he seems to fine now.

Thanks Robin & Andrea. It was a scary thing to have happen,& I'm relieved he passed it out without any problems.I'm going to be much more careful now & cut way down on how often they're allowed to have the bullysticks.
