I'm having problems w/ Babe biting and barking. The standard methods of "No, etc." and leaving the room does not work.

Time-outs do not work. Tiring him w/ play does not work. Etc., etc.

If he can not behave I'm fearing he will be leaving this week.

I know he has the potential, but I'm the pack leader here, and he is testing me beyond limits. I leave each day w/ a rash from nerves from him the last couple weeks.

He does not know basic commands, and refuses to learn them. Is not trained to walk w/ a harness.

I've spent nearly two months working w/ him daily. I've left the house only a couple times for 10-15 mins. I'm tired...feel drained.

Suggestions?

Here is a very simple solution. Get a spray water bottle. Spray him with the stream line not the spray, every time he barks or bites and tell him no. If the water doesn't work with biting, get bitter apple spray, put latex gloves on and spray all over your hands, then offer him your hands to bite, he will not like it and will hopefully not do it again.

Tried water in the face--didn't work. Bitter Apple he is not afraid of.

He just lost another tooth. Teething is the main problem--and I can't rush nature.

Thanks-

Linda;)

P.S. Didn't try stream spray--will try again. I felt the water was cruel in his face. Increased the tearing. Tearing is almost nil now! Using only Distilled Water.

So babe likes the taste of bitter apple?

Spraying in the face does nothing, use the stream. I can't think of any reason why that would cause tearing. Although if it does, I'd rather have his biting stopped now and worry about tearing later.

Yesterday was a super day w/ him. His barking is triggered by airplanes; birds; etc.

I find that if I'm w/him and explain what it is, and that it's o.k. and hold his neck/head lightly from behind and whisper in his ears he will stop. (It sounds odd, but works). And then I distract him w/playing w/him. When he's busy he forgets the sounds.

Last night he wanted to be tickled on his tummy. I bathed him earlier in the day, and he was so well behaved and patient. I'm getting better w/the grooming. His hair is filling in; very lush and thick; appears to be in excellent condition. The tearing has stopped--Whew!!! The daily grooming pays off!

He minds me w/n reason...he's stubborn w/the come command. He's eating well. Seems happy w/me.

His teeth are bothering him. I con't to work w/him. It's difficult for me to do
all the required things for him because my Aunt thinks she can care for him in 2 wks. So I'm frustrated. It's an unusual situation. I never know his status here--and I need to. It's unfair to me.

But bitter apple didn't phase him. What does confuse him is Selzter Water--the bubbles tickle his nose--and he stops everything to figure out what it is. I'll try the stream of water if he begins the "out-of-control" barking/biting again.

Thanks-
Linda
