A woman was fired for bringing her Maltese to work with her at a mental health clinic. She brought the Malt and other dog to ease her anxiety and depression. She had been doing this for more than 8 years. A new director told her not to bring her Maltese anymore because it was an office hazard.
The owner filed a grievance, stating that she needed the dog for her depression, but the director and members of the clinics board eliminated her job.
The jury found that the center had retaliated against her and hadn't properly handled the grievance.

Wowser!!!! Malts do have a calming affect on me. The sweet face and the lovely long hair to stroke! Peace and contentment. I hope the lady uses the money for a good purpose! Like buying another maltese!:)

Good for her for taking it further Crickey :D How stupid are some people I feel for the inmates of that place.
I agree Carol, the first thing I would splurge on would be a little fluffy white stress reliever :D

I am suprised! I managed a mental health clinic for quite a few years. Some of the docs brought their dogs in daily! And encouraged patients to bring in their dogs during their sessions. I've brought one of mine many times. I guess the difference is, the clinic and building was owned by one of the docs that brought in her dog. I can't think of any health hazard bringing a dog into a mental health clinic would cause.

Sad! I think the "health hazard" was one of pure jealousy and ignorance. It's a shame that in today's world there are people in that line of work that still do not know the value our dogs have. I know first hand the the benefit of our dogs on me.
enJOY!

Well, it's only fair to share the wealth of being owned by a Maltese.
