Hi,
This is new for me. Our 4 1/2 year old baby boy maltese passed away this Feb.3, 2010. It happened so fast, I am still in disbelief. It started on a Saturday night when he did not eat dinner. By Sunday morning he was vomiting and had dark urine. I checked him into a emergency 12 hr. watch clinic Sunday night. Monday morning I transferred him to a 24 hr. vet hospital. Wednesday morning he passed away. I buried him that Friday.
He suffered from auto immune disease. Nothing helped, the blood transfusions nor the medicine. I feel a part of me died. I miss my best friend. I bought my beloved friend as my daughter's birthday present/ We had never had a pet before and I admit I was not educated on where to purchase these special animals. I saw a store near where I lived in encino, ca called posh puppy in tarzana, ca. I later learned that these stores are puppy mills. It has been almost 2 weeks now and my heart still hurts. Although I know I can never replace my friend, a part of me wants that love back. But this time I do not want to support puppy mills. Can anyone recommend a known breeder in my area (encino, ca) who has healthy puppies.

Thank you so much for talking the time to help me.

:( I am so sorry for your loss of your sweet baby. I can't imagine how hurt you are and your daughter also. What a hard thing to go through.
You are right about these pet-store puppies coming from puppy-mills and I am so happy to see you learned from that .
There are a lot of wonderful breeders out there, did you ever consider have a new pup shipped?
Stacy who is a member here and also a reputable breeder of Maltese may be someone for you to talk with/ she is in California.
http://www.bellaratamaltese.com/index.htm
Tajon also has some babies available, she is in Oklahoma. This is why I was asking if you would have a new baby shipped

Just take your time and do what you have been doing. You're doing the right thing by looking for a reputable breeder.
Again, I am so sorry for your loss.:hug:

:(:( Oh I'm so sorry about your baby, its never easy to lose a family member :(:( I think the majority of us have been there when it comes to puppy mills and each have our own story to tell and lesson learned. The good thing is that we can recognize these evil places and spread the word to others

The breeders Andrea recommended are great!! I am not that good with breeders and don't know many, sorry, so don't have much else to add. Good luck with your search!! :) Keep us updated and let us know if you have any questions!!

Jess,
TaJon has a male in the link I posted for 1000 dollars :hearter: that is a steal.
TaJon is my favorite breeder ever! Tammy's look ,I feel, is stunning. :hearter:
I have no problem with a pup being shipped , but I know some do.

I feel blessed to have found this site. Talking about my late maltese is hekping me deal with my sadness. Please continue to share with me any good breeders who have healthy puppies. I live in encino, ca. I read about the breeder who can ship. I don't know if I am comfortable with that. I would be so scared that the puppy might suffer in the long process. But they are so cute.

Hi,
No harm comes to them when they are shipped, great care is taken, believe me. Your feelings are your feelings though concerning shipping and I respect that. Right now I can't think of any more California breeders, but there are more.
You can talk about your sweet baby all you want. Everyone here will listen and try to help in any way.
Again, I am so sorry for your loss :(

Hi! i'm sooo sorry for your loss, how truly heart breaking.

Are you looking for a male? I do not have any puppies right now available but I can definitely help you find a breeder who does. Here are some names off of the American Maltese Association website breeder referral (and who I know personally and would recommend) taken from http://www.americanmaltese.org

Grizzell, Sandra J. (Wee R Yorkies & Maltese) Lake Forest 949-597-0085 Wee-r-yorkies48@yahoo.com

Landry, Cynthia (Scruffy’s) Phelan 760-868-6156 Scruffystoys@aol.com
http://scruffystoydogs.com/

Sanguinet, Kathy (Ragtak Maltese) Nuevo 951-928-0524 ragtak@roadrunner.com
http://www.ragtak.com

Stangeland, Sarah Escondido 760-743-0321 sarahstangeland@cox.net

That is a good place to start and if they have nothing available, they should be able to point you in the direction of someone who does. You may not find a good breeder right in your home town but there are quite a few in so cal. I'm in central california so I travel to dog shows in both northern and southern cal, which makes it nice!

If you contact Tajon, its possible she is showing at Westminster today so she may not get right back to you. Feel free to give me a call if you have any questions about anything (my phone# is on my website)

I'm so sorry for your loss. My girl came from a puppymill as well and that is my biggest fear.
I hope the search for a new furbaby goes well.

i am so so sorry for what you are going through. 2 years ago,i bought a beautiful baby from a pet store. i too was ignorant but i thought at $1200 she had to be a great dog. i NEVER knew pet stores had animals from puppy mills. my baby died a couple of weeks later...liver shunt. i was devestated. i swore i would never get another dog. my heart was broken. fast foward to nov. 2009....we purchased molly from a great breeder. she is the love of my life (maybe even before my dear husband!) i am so nervous about her and want to make sure i do everything right. i have raised 3 kids and never was i as nervous with them as with molly! anyhow, best luck in finding you new addition.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your precious baby boy. I hope you find another little one to love. I read a post once by someone who lost their beloved Maltese boy. He said,"You can't replace love, but you can add to it". May time & a new baby boy ease your pain & add love to your grieving heart & home. Hugs

I'm so terribly sorry about your loss...they are our family and babies, too. I know Stacy is givng you good advice. I've learned from losing a few pets that you never forget them, but it is good for the soul to find another fluff to love and love you back to help your heart heal.

Talk about whatever you want - there's a lot of ears here that can relate. Best of luck finding your new little boy! Let us know how it goes, and we love lots'a pictures

My heart goes out to you...

I am sure with time and healing from your loss, there will be another maltese in your life. When my sweet Kelsey died in 2004, I swore I would never ever have another fluff because of the pain and sorrow I went through. I grieved for over nine months and couldn't even look at a picture of her without breaking down. She was my everything and had been there for me when I had to go through some tuff times; she was truly my 24/7 best frienid as I was able to stay at home throughout her entire life. But as time passed and being a pet lover, I knew I "needed" another dog in my life. I checked out a few sites and came across a video of three maltese in full coat running through the grass, showed the hubby, read up on them and before you knew it, we had a maltese........then a yorkie came into our lives...........then another maltese...........and then another so we are up to four dogs. If you had told me that I would have four dogs at once, I would have said you were crazy. Amazing what these fluffs can bring into our lives........they truly make me happy! Give yourself some time for healing, you will know when it is time to get another fluff to enjoy.

I am so sorry for your loss. It is never easy.

If you find a baby that you want and are comfortable with the breeder, there is a guy that travels in cabin with the puppies. And I am sure he would be happy to deliver you your puppy. If you want his information PM me and I will get it to you.

Again I am so sorry for your loss.
