How much does YOUR MALTESE weigh?

How much does your Maltese weigh in at, how old and are they stocky or wirey?

Let's start w/mine:

Charlie : Our rescue Maltese is 6 years old 7 pounds and about right on for his size range.

Bella: She is over a year old and 5.5 pounds and solid..she is a good eater and has the perfect frame for a mommy

Beau: he is a little over 3 pounds and good for his size. He is around a year old and probably will hit 4 pounds someday when he beefs up. He is the "ladies man"

Petunia: she is the MOST PICKY eater I have ever seen in my life!! She is 2.9 pounds and should be in my opinion 3.5 pounds . She eats once a day and only once a day and only YUCK I know mighty dog canned food (not the recalled chunks in gravy) but our vet recommends to keep feeding her whatever she will eat. She has no tear staining ever and then ate the mighty dog and has tear stains around her nose. Going to try and transition her over to something else. She turns her nose up at Merrick..Go figure! Any suggestions?

Jasmine: She is almost 2 years old and a total fatty at 6 pounds. She is built like a bulldog, short and very stocky..beautiful girl and only eats dry food Eukanuba small breed like the rest of our gang.

Tiffany: 5 months old, short and stocky and probably 4 pounds by now.

Puppet: 3 years old and 5 pounds solid and a little stocky..petite frame and pretty tiny.

So that's our gang..tell me 'bout yours!

I was really hoping for a smaller size since I end up picking her up alot.
On the other hand she is sturdy.:)

Wirey frame is when they are boney but bigger..know what i mean? Stocky is kind of heavy! 10 pounds is adorable. I like all sizes but I keep mine smaller because they are kept in breed standards sometimes smaller with me since I breed. I grew up w/maltese all my life and my family bred them down in size over the years. Can't help loving ALL SIZED maltese..they are the best!.

Starry, yeah It's hard not to love and desire the tiny size, but like you said atleast she is sturdy. Did your breeder tell you that she would be bigger? She'll probably top out at 7 pounds, which is a nice size. I always tell my buyers the correct size at adult hood as I worry about resentment towards the puppy later on if not told the correct size. Glad you love her, she will still be breed standard and beautiful!

You sound like a wonderful and honest breeder.
I went with my heart and not head, yes I love her and she has dark pigmentation and no lemoning (if I bath her:p ),tearing yes.
She is so sweet, thanks for the pep talk. I can't imagine anyone resenting a dog bc of something it can't help. But I'm sure it happens.

Andrea, Nemo looks very well bred to me, and 10lbs is not big when next to other dogs. My Lhasa is 17 and she looks small outside compared to most dogs.
Nemo is sooo handsome.
Do you worry about the patella thing? I do alot!
Im sure there's not much I can do if it's gonna happen.:confused:

:D Mia is 3 months 3 weeks weighs a whopping 2 lbs 3 oz. wire frame. Alot of fluff & full of love!!! Wow..seven pups huh? I was just imagining myself with two malts and how to convince my hubby that Mia needs a friend?:p

She just turned 1! I'm cutting down on her treats, maybe that'll help her lose 2-3 lbs. She eats twice a day. I'm glad she's sturdy, she can hold her own against her big sis, Kira:D

Does it really matter if they are big or small? Well the tiny ones might be more susceptible to health problems JMO. Our Sunny is 9 lbs and we love him dearly, it is the breed we love, their personality. Size smize who gives a darn:hearts6:

My Holly has food out all day! I get tired of standing and hiding my 10 meals aday from her so I want her to know she can eat like me!

I've heard one way to calculate is to double their weight at 3 months. I don't know how accurate it is though. I'm sure someone else can give you a better gauge.

Sugar and Candy are both 6 months old and weigh about 6.6 pounds. I do believe they are done growing. They are small and both have sturdy frames which is a good size. They both have great black points, pigment is great and their coats are bright white. Candy did have some lemon on her ears and a little on her back but it has grown out and is now white. You can still see the lemon because I am waiting until her hair gets longer to cut it. Both of them have beautiful coats, I can't wait until their coats are even longer!!

Oh and I feed mine Canidae all life stages. They woulden't touch Merricks or Innova. I had them on Chicken Soup and they eat it but when I switched to the Canidae they all gobbled it down!!

That is what the breeder told me, around 5 lbs. I got her from a breeder in Missouri.
