JiJi's Mom

This is regarding JiJa my yorkie. When I first got her I notice she trembled alot. Like when she ate or was around people or when we went for rides and the obvious when I figure she was cold. Well I was hoping she would get over that stage but she still trembles even when I know she's happy. Vet says there's nothing medically wrong with her, she seems like a very healthy pup. My vet told me it isn't normal but didn't give me an explanation from there.
I know she cannot be left alone, I am working on dealing with her anxiety problem. Leaving with JiJi to check the mailbox so to have her alone for a couple of min. I can leave them alone for 4 hours and no problem but JiJa alone is a big issue.
She came from a home who accidently had pups so I was aware that complications were possible. Sometimes I think she's mix with Chihuahua, some people even thinks she has cat DNA the way she she goes up and down the furniture. But vet said she looks like a yorkie and I honestly don't care to get a DNA. Apart from that she's the cutest, flirty thing around (learning to flirt like her big sis).
Anyway's I was just wondering if anyone has suggestions for me. Especially regarding the trembling. Honestly she eats and you can see a big smile on her face and poor thing is trembling. Weird.

How old is JiJa now??? How small is she???? I think Buffy did tremble a little when we first got her.......but not any more but we've had her almost two years now. She is pretty tiny and I think if I were that small, I would tremble too..........I would do two things, check her ears to make sure there is nothing wrong inside to cause her pain and to tremble; second, I would check her teeth and see if she needs to have soem pulled or has another mouth issue. She just start this or has it been happening all along??? You might try Rescue Remdy which is for calming them down and see if the trembling stops but I wouldn't want to use it all the time....JMHO.
Does she do it when she is standing or when new people come???? Something is triggering it, ya just gotta figure out what.
PS: She sure is a cutie pie!!!!! Love that little face!!! Sooooooooooooo sweet! You gotta love them ears! :)

Mitzy used to be a trembler, anything new would set her off. A ride in the car, leaving the house, a new person, a new dog, a new toy, anything new in her envioronment would scare her and she would tremble. I had to be really good about socializing her and I still try to take her everywhere I can with me to get her used to new things. She doesn't tremble anymore (I think becuase we have a routine set up) but anytime someone new meets her and wants to pet her she trembles.
You havn't had Jija that long now have you?? She may still be getting used to a routine in her new home. When you leave her alone does she become destructive at all?? Or what makes you think she can't be left alone (other than trembling).
My Weimaraner has seperation anxiety and becomes super desctructive if left alone. We have to crate him if Mitzy is not home with him while we are gone. And even then he has broken out of his crate (bangs himself against the door to get it open :() and found something to destroy. If you do think she has seperation anxiety, your doing right by gently leaving her by herself.
I will have to go seach YT but Layla's mom (I forget her screen name) got something to help Layla with her trembling during storms, I will see if I can find the thread for you. It was like a coat or something but somehow restrained her so she would become calm, I wonder if something like that would calm Jija down

Well her ears seem fine in my point of view and no smell. She will be 7 months on the 29th of this month and is close to 3lbs. She is very friendly when people come to the house. She does everything JiJi teaches her. But outside the house is another issue, or when I take her to a friends house. Even when I take her harness out she see's it and starts trembling, but she loves the walks.
I will look into Rescue Remedy. And I do love the ears :D

I am so happy to hear my baby is not the only trembler. I was just hoping by now she would stop. I've had her for three months now. Both girls are destructive wether I'm home or not . But she will drool even after I'm back home and I know she won't eat or drink while she's alone. Poor thing will just coward in a corner but she's perfectly fine with storms, I actually pull the curtains up for them to watch. And I have to have the doors open where ever I'm at. She does get upset very easily, I saw her throw up after I lecture her. Now that I mention I had her for three months maybe I just need to be more patient:scratchy:
My girls are SOOOOO opposite, but so are my children :hearter:

The only time that Emma shakes/trembles is when we go to the vet's office, and even that only started after she was spayed (not that I can blame her...ouch!) However, my mom's Yorkie is a major trembler. She has anxiety issues and had seizures when she was tiny. She not only shakes whenever she goes to the vet or the groomer but also when she goes to any new place or if any unfamiliar animals are around, or if she thinks one of her "people" (my parents or me) is leaving her. She's three years old and hasn't outgrown it... She's a pretty high string pup but we love her.

Lucas trembled too when he is all excited or when he is around new people!, when I first got him, at the time to eat he use to lift his back feet really funny:tongue:. I think that maybe your baby needs to get use to her new home and you guys.
I hope that everything goes okay!.

Yep, all of mine tremble when they "smell" the vet's office........Toby is the worse but I can see why they tremble for that. I have "white coat syndrom" when I go to the Dr..............my blood pressure is always up the first time she takes it but I always tell her it is the white coat and the "long" wait!:lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2:

That's the same for me! I've been very lucky and rarely have to go to the dr. - typically just for the annual check-ups. I swear, my blood pressure skyrockets the moment I walk in though! My mom's poor lil Yorkie starts shaking the moment you pull into the vet's parking lot but Emma is good until we walk through the door. I brought her with me the last time I needed to stop to buy her heartworm/flea meds just to try to show her that "bad" things don't happen every time she goes there!

Last time we were at the vet there was a poodle who was trembling too. Surprisingly Alex does not tremble especially surprising after the surgeries he had, all the dental cleanings, ultra sounds.... But he gets impatient when we have to wait and he is no longer friendly with the vet people when they want to poke him.

How old was she when you got her? Sometimes when puppies are separated to early, especially very small puppies or the only one in a litter they are a little more fragile. They have been coddled a lot and hand fed, basically very spoiled. Sometimes it has to do with not being socialized properly, but with time and some work they can work out of it. Some breeder's are pro's at this and some not! I have six Yorkies and one Maltese and only one of the Yorkies seems to get a little nervous at the Doctor's office and shakes. I think she takes after me! She is so adorable. I love her look.

Well she was given to me by a couple who accidently had pups. They where planning on keeping all them but found out it was too much too handle. So I didn't get her very young, I believe she was 4 months by the time I picked her up. I was aware that there might be some type of social behavior since they weren't breeders but she is very healthy.
With all the responce I have gotten I just figure she needs more time. And yes there both very spoil, althought I am trying to break that.
And WOW seven furballs, you must have some shows at home :D

Aw, she is a cutie!!
I think with patience, lots of love and encouragement she will be just fine.
I got my yorkie Brownie from a breeder when he was 3 years old. She was a great breeder, I just don't think she socialized him like he should have been. When I first got him, he was scared of us and would even hide from us.
He is 5 years old now and a completely different dog. He loves us and the really incredible thing is he will now let even strangers pet him!! The only shyness he has left in him is if a stranger reaches for him real quick which I don't blame him.
It took a lot of time and hard work but I am so proud of my little boy and the huge accomplishment he has made.
So don't give up hope on her, she just needs a lot of socialization, love and encouragement.

We've had the same experience with our rescue, Brandy..........it took a while but she finally came around and continues to blossom a little more every day with her antics, playfulness and personality...............so I agree, don't give up on them.
Oh and 20863 Tracey and your pack!!!
