Well, Mia is just about 4 1/2 months old and is making me crazy with her biting. I cant wait for her to lose her teeth!! This morning she has been biting my fingers and hands (and it REALLY hurts!!). I have told her "no biting" tried giving her chew toys and even put her in time out. But she would rather bite me! I just dont know what to do anymore! Every time I try to pet her she starts to bite me! I love her to death, but this biting needs to STOP!!! Any advice on what else I can do?! I know you all have gone through this, but please tell me it will stop soon!!

Oh, btw, I just wanted to share with everyone that Mia is fully potty trained! :yay_jump: :yay_jump: She has been for about 2-3 weeks now!! I am so proud of her!!

:( I know what you mean with the biting , Nemo did this too and also nipped at our ankles:p We did the NO thing to it really didn't help. But now he doesn't do that at all, I gues it stopped around a year old. Nemo is now 1 year 7 months and he really is laid back he is still young , but all those things stopped as Nemo got older.Im sure Mia will stop also.. You may not think it's working and maybe it isn't but just keep saying no and reinforcing positive behavior:D

Possibly.Nemo stopped biting the ankles at like 6 months.I really think her teeth hurt her , cause Nemo did that and I tell you now he never ever does this:p Thank God it stopped cause it was annoying.I think maybe spaying will help although I am not sure how:D Don't worry it will stop sooner than you think, I promise!

Andrea, I really hope it does! I have a bunch of chew toys for her but she shows NO interest in them! I bought her bully sticks, a nylabone, and other chew toys! She seems to like her nylabone and the bully stick, but she gets bored after a while!

I think the hands taste better to them I don't know why:confused: But believe me it's common it's not just Mia doing this.People may tell you 'Oh no say No and do this or do that" Sorry she is normal and it will end when her pain from teething ends, you would know by now If Mia was aggressive , cause that would be the only other reason she is doing that and we know she is not aggressive. So don't worry to much go with the flow and this will pass, trust me on this!!:D

I will trust you on this then! I know that you all know a lot more about owning a dog than I do! I am still learning the ropes. Thanks for your advice, and help!

Congratulations on having Mia potty trained.........that in itself is a great accomplishment!!!

The biting? Well I always like to try to look at it from the dog's point of view. Her baby teeth are probably hurting her and your fingers are a nice "something" to chew on, not too hard and not too soft ( and no, I don't think you should let her bite you). The other stuff is hard and does help so just keep offering her them. Once she loses the baby teeth, she will be better about the biting. Try making another sound when she bites to get her attention rather than saying no.........since no isn't working. Aaaaaa, short and loud and it works with my two, they stop immediately what they are doing and look right at me!!! LOL :D JMO

Well, of course Carol is right! ROFL

And, Andrea, I didn't mean to imply you meant it was okay to bite! I didn't take your post to mean that at all!!:D

:( My Mia does the same thing and when I say ooowww or ooouuch she barks at me....the nerve...I usually have her in bed or on the couch with me. Now when she doesn't stop after scolding her a few times I take her off the couch or the bed. I leave her off for 10 minutes and allow her back on it usually works for about 15 minutes then she remembers, then she is back at it. :p

im sorry about the biting i hope it ends soon. but all dogs are different. tobad baby orajel cant be used. they should make a doggy type... also a heart beat machine (mimicer) for the dog. There's alot of things htey should make that seem very easily tangible but they have not been made.

again hope the biting ends soon =-D

Good luck!

:cry2: :crying: My poor baby got her rabies shot today and isnt feeling too well. She got a little car sick on the way home and threw up. I feel so bad for her and I wish she was back to her normal self. I never thought I would say this but I wish she were attacking my fingers and biting at everything!:cry2: :crying:

The vet said that it depends on the dog in how quickly they get back to their normal self. Some dogs dont even act different after their shots! I asked them to give her the benedryl shot and they said that they didnt want to give her it if she didnt need it. They wanted to wait to see if she was going to have a reaction so they would know for her re-boost on the shot. I think that the reason she threw up is because she got a little car sick! She is laying down on the couch now and sleeping. She drank plenty of water and went potty! She also ate some food!

My vet tells me to give her s little benadryl 15 minutes before she gets her shots. My Mia is due for her rabies shot next week and I'm dreading it she gets so sore and wimpers because her shoulders hurt because of the shots.:( :( :( Hope she gets better soon!!!

Krystal, sounds like she's getting better. LB was like that after her spay and I felt bad because she normally is all over the place and all she wanted to do was sleep. But she got better and went back to her normal self.

I'm sure she'll get better just keep a close eye on her. Keep us updated Krystal.
