View Full Version : Paint...
Has anyone painted a house before?
Recently?
I painted a couple of times but it was only when I was helping my folks out...
What kind of colors did you go with and how did you end up liking it?

For me i luv natural colours & then a little darker too!
I love colours like stone, latte, coffee, taupe, toffee, caramel, pebbles! The only place i have real colour is in the kids rooms!
I have light colour floors all over & the colours that i choose seem to work well!
What colour of furniture do you have?
i was trying to stay where you are elaine...
like light natural colors
i am thinking of furniture like white, shades of navy blue, some black brown what you think ? i have real light wood floors but i want wall to be a natural color where it will be nice and bright since there is only one big window :*(

I luv black Brown furniture & if i could i would change mine to that!
Light flooring with dark furniture is nice, you could maybe do a feature wall where one wall is dark & the others are a lighter contrast colour! I would do that but i feel my room is too long & narrow for that but if your room is more square then it could work well.

I have dark furniture........and if I could change mine, I would go with light. Dark pieces of furniture are twice the work in keeping the dust off than it is with the light furniture! Trust me on this. Hubby and I both like the look of the dark and went dark with almost all of our furniture. I spend time dusting every two days to keep it nice.......plus hubby is allergic to dust!!!! But I love the natural, light colors!!! cremes and greens. Also in our master bedroom, we painted one wall behind the bed a color that was in the comforter on our bed, looks really nice. The rest of the walls are a light creme! So maybe painting one or two walls the same color and the other two or three or whatever walls, another color!:D

I know what you mean about the dust! You've just reminded me, i hate my kitchen first thing in the morning when the sun is shining in as you can see all the dust on the black worktops & the units are a cherry wood, they too catch all the dust! The amount of dust that is generated overnight in my house is unbelievable.
Thanks for reminding me C, i'll keep the light furniture :D

What a BIG mistake we made. We bought ALL new furniture when we moved into the new house six years ago and went with ALL dark...........UGH! It is a nightmare with all the dusting. Dust is everywhere!!! And it does appear overnight! So be glad ou have some light furniture! I HATE it cause of the dust but love the look!!!
i never thought of that... thanks ladies!
i want to make one wall a focal point but its not an equal room
it is long and narrow...
do you think it would be werid if i did this?
i will paint it and show it to u guys here wait give me a second
the colors are so what im not going to use cause its not what i had in mind...
but do u think this will be ugly?
think of it in a long narrow room
or should i do the bathroom walls but it be all over boxes... but i will be using black white different shades of grey...
only because we are going with black cabinet and a glass bowl that is clear.
what u think? bad idea?

I love Black & White in a bathroom!
I have a white bathroom suite with white wall tiles ( i know boring:p ) but i wanted the floor to look not so boring so i chose large black & large white tiles & i have not gotten bored with it yet!
With my living room jadey i felt if i painted one wall dark & the others light it would make my room feel even longer & narrower than it is! BUT i have a window at each end of my livingroom & i dont know if that makes it feel narrower! When i build my extension i want a nice square room to sit it:D

I like that, are you going to do the pattern with paint? I imagine it needs alot of thought put into it with what colour goes where & when & masking all the shapes out & getting them straight. You'll need a good eye for that one or a level if your walls are running in line. Let us know how you get on!
