Petunia never had tear stains..she wouldn't eat enough so vet said buy 10 cans let her chose, she chose mighty dog over merrick and wellness..trust me we tried everything..so now tear stains later ,we're back to trying wellness last night ...hated it..tonight merrick..tommorow innova..anyone have any good food suggestions for a very very picky dog named Petunia? Must have a good fat content! She is too tiny! Last pic is her too!

Thanks for letting me share! This board is great.

They are all beautiful!
I would suggest Chicken Soup for the dog/puppy lover's soul. Our picky dogs love it! And it has great ingredients!

I've continued to keep mine on the puppy formula because I have one that is underweight and one that is 2.5 pounds and can't handle the bigger bites. It's 28% protein and 17% fat.

I get it at our local organic pet store but also all of our feed stores carry it. It is not a store type brand so it will not be seen at petsmart or the grocery.

I have never given the meat so I don't know if it is palatable to them or not. My gang is solely on dry food, for the health of their teeth. crunch crunch:p

My entire gang is on dry food excluding Miss Princess Thang Petunia..she is too good for dry food according to her! Look at her picture! Does she not look rotten to you? Will look into feed stores.

Awww they are gorgeous, i could look at malt pics all day:D

What if you added some chicken into her dry kibble & then put it in the microwave for a few seconds to mix the flavour! Worth a try, mine scoff the food when i do this & my Abbie is a picky eater too:D

maltesemum, it may be hard to tell from petunias pics, but Abbie reminds me of Petunia. I will take more pics when I can. Petunia is 2.9 pounds how big is Abbie? She also does NOT walk, she is ONLY carried lol. I tried chicken soup brand last night, she ate only half of the 2 oz of food I left for her..Tonight Merrick..lol

BTW petunia doesn't eat chicken. LOL I resorted to even trying hamburger at burger king, chicken breast ,Nothing no table food no treats ,only treat she will eat is a puppy milk bone and only once in a blue moon if everyone else is greeding them up too!

Here's another pic of little Petunia. I buzzed some tears away more like dry tears from the stupid MD food..now shes being switched around till she finds a food she likes. Tonight is Merrick.

hehe here's another. Love little Tunie time (aka petunia) but she needs a bath badly. Daddy is currently "dematting" her a few hours every day w/the metal comb because she rolled in her bed which we bought from Costco (Big round bed) darn thing

She does resemble Abbie, are'nt they just gorgeous:maltese1:

Abbie is topping the scales at 4lb now & she is 1 year old, sometimes the tiny ones don't stop growing till age 2! have you found that also? All 3 of mine eat Purina Pro Plan but i think Abbie eats it cause she is jealous of the boys! I vary the people food that i add to their food, sometimes chicken, ham & pate.

Do you feel petunia is underweight? Hopefully you'll stumble across something that she loves:D

Petunia could use maybe quarter to half pound extra weight, but not much more. She is so tiny! She is all beard and ears lol. Since going into heat shes gained weight..She was about 2 pounds before.

A few months over a year old. Dr said she is in weight standard for her size, but she could gain more. He said she was on the lower end of standard.

Tiffany looks lovely, nice stance, topline & coat!

I am just learning the ropes just now & waiting on a pup to show but they are not as readily available over here!

P.S. you dont need to donate to get a slideshow avatar, but when you do donate the space you are allocated gets bigger!

Bren(Kanga) or I can make you a new avatar:maltese1:

oh please do please please lol..would love that very much!

Tiffany is beautiful show quality I believe. But not positive I'll do it. She came from a good f riend of the family who shares our lineage and has some gorgeous gorgeous maltese dogs. Petunia came from her and so did Jasmine & Beau.

If you were closer perhaps I'd let you show Tiffany for me lol..i dont know much about showing, but my family does.

equal parts peanut butter, honey and mirracoat. The
mixture has to really chill well to be able to make it into little 1 inch
balls, 2 per day to a 3 1/2 pounder.

1 lb Peanut Butter
1 lb honey
1 lb Diaglo OR Mirracoat Special Care
1 pt Livitamin (Lixatonic) OR 2 4 oz Petinic Bottles

Have peanut butter @ room temp. Mix well. Store in fridge. Make into balls.

Sammy Maree was extra fussy so I tried her on Royal Canin. I softened it and added a little baby food ( sometimes cottage cheese) to it and she gobbled it up. Just a suggestion, instead of trying a food one day and then another the next day, stick with one brand for a week before trying another. Most are fussy eaters because we ALLOW them to be.
Good luck and your pups are cute

I agree with you Bek.

Offering her something new daily and only eating meat...well she's got you trained doesn't she? :p I know it is very easy to spoil our pups and most of us are very guilty of that I hope.;) But when I first got my girls, I definately let them be picky eaters and I was so frustrated, then I found some info online to get them to eat without a fuss now. And giving them a little hard love in this area was the best thing I ever did. They all eat the same dry food and they eat it when I put it down. And if they don't they get a little hungry so by their next meal, they eat it and even better . However at 2.5 pounds I'll bet if she misses a meal it worries you. I know if my Gizmo misses a meal (he's also 2.5-3 pounds) it sure does worry me. Thankfully he is an extremely good eater and I don't have to worry too much about that. But I did want to say, you should maybe not give in too much with her about her food, she has to learn to eat and put weight on for her health. Also a little exercise will do her appetite good. Make her walk a little. She just might grow to enjoy it.

Bek, Thank you very much for the helpful advice and comments. Thanks to everyone else for the compliments. Petunia is definitely not picky because of us. We got her at 6 mo old and she was picky then and we left her on Nutro for a long time , but she just was the kind of dog that actually would starve her self to death. Will stick w/ the Chicken Soup for Pet Lovers soul tonight see if she eats it tonight.

LOL @ the walking . Petunia will NOT walk. She would have bloody paws before walking . We have couplers for the leashes so we can take 4 dogs out for a walk at a time. She won't walk alone, nor will she with the other dogs. We've tried, trust me. We walk the dogs in the nice weather seasons. Darn her, she is a princess. I am not making it up. If anyone of you lives in the NY/NJ area....please bring your dog, lets get together, hang out and you can see for yourself lol.

She is very fussy. But she really is a sweetheart. I did the tough love thing and left dry food down. She ate nothing for 4 days and I paniced because she was appauling to look at. She doesn't eat in front of us (doors must be closed, light turned off) She only eats once a day (tried two-three, won't touch it) SHe pees when we are not home or looking and same with poopie. She really is very secretive and selective. Help! I'm losing my mind . Worse part is she is my baby and probably hate to use the word favorite, but she's up there on my extra love list. Although all 7 get attention and infact Charlie our rescue gets the most!
