Battle Scars

Bentley and I had a war and I'm not sure who won but he is clipped and he looks good. He is never a fan of getting clipped but yesterday was one of the worst times. I muzzle him to clip him. He knew what was coming as Ollie and Tebow had already gone. He nipped me putting on the muzzle. And then somehow he managed to get that dang muzzle off a couple of times during the trim and get me. I did his face last and by that point he was pretty decent. Good thing because you can't do the face with a muzzle. Had to do a lot of nos and good boys and pauses but we got the face done. Tebow is good about having his body clipped but he wiggles and groans and cries for the legs and face. Ollie is good as gold about being clipped. Thank goodness 1 of the 3 is very easy.

That's why we go to a groomer! But, we started Jack as soon as he came home with us and he's been groomed every 5 weeks ever since.

I should start doing it that often. Even if I'm not taking a whole lot off, they'd get used to putting up with it better I think. I quite going to a groomer after Tebow's third haircut as a puppy was AWFUL. I already had been cutting hubby and my boy's hair for years so figured I could do the dogs and couldn't do any worse than the haircut Tebow had a for a whole lot less $$.

I feel your pain! Molly, my smallest furbaby is 6 lbs of terror or terrier!! What a pain she is to groom. The bath is fine, but clipping her is a real chore. We go thru the nipping too and it hasn't gotten any better in 8 years.

Kudos!!!!! I had a dachshund that hated getting his nails clipped. I use to put a sock on this head and he still bit me. I guess that would be animal abuse now days. lol I bought a sack like thing. Their head sticks out and feet and you zip them up in it. It has a handle on it. I just zip them up and Ben holds them up and I do nails. They really don't mind it but it prevents them from jerking back their paw.

It is actually made for cats but works perfectly for Maltese and the bag is big enough for the dogs. https://www.buypurrfectpouch.com/?ut...m_campaign=CPD

I guess I have weird dogs. They let me do their nails with no problem. Do they like it, not necessarily but they are good about it. I usually do it right after their bath and before I even dry them while their nails are still soft.

I'm sorry Bentley was such a pill about being groomed. Not sure a professional would be any better as many would refuse to do them if they nip.

Jenell, thanks for the link as Laura said Teddy didn't like having his nails clipped. They ended up clipping them close while he was sedated for his surgery but I'm not looking forward to trying to do it. Hopefully it won't have to be done until he's more used to us.
