Missing Phone

I stopped at the store on the way home to pick up ingredients for dinner. So I look in my purse for my phone and NO phone. (I have the Paprika recipe app on my phone). So now I'm going to worry about this all night. I was ready to go back and look for it. I had a bunch of stuff in my hand today. I'm pretty sure it is on my desk. Hopefully not run over in the parking lot. Hubby said forget about it - it's about time for a new phone anyway and it's 35 minutes one way (longer at this time of day with rush hour traffic). The recipe app is on my iPad too so I wouldn't lose that but all those phone numbers!!! And my calendar with upcoming appointments. And the pictures I took of my grandson Saturday. ARGH. I'm going to be worrying about this all night!!!

Oh my goodness......I certainly feel your distress!!!! My phone kept powering up and powering down so I took it to a Samsung specialist. Well, long story short, he wasn't able to do anything to fix it or retrieve "ANY" information, including pictures I had take of my granddaughters and pictures of Kallie her last day with us.

So I sure hope you find it.

Phone was on my desk thank goodness. I think there is a way to back up contacts in The Cloud, but I don't know much about that.

I am not dependent on my phone. I have nothing on my phone. It is just there in case of emergency or eventually to check the google map. I rarely took pictures on it and when I do I download them to my computer at home and then delete them on the phone.

With work I always have to have my phone. I was out doing a feeding evaluation with a coworker today and the address we had didn't include an apartment number. (The apt number wasn't in the computer data base - I checked to make sure it wasn't an apt. complex before I left). So called a coworker who pulled the file and checked the proof of residency to get the apt. number. Beat the fool out of knocking on 8 different doors. That kind of stuff happens all the time. Plus my phone is like a mobile rolodex. I'm always having to make calls from work or the car (kids, doctor, pharmacy, vet, hairdresser, etc) most of which have to be done during work hours. I'm lost without those phone numbers. Way too many to remember. Plus my calendar is on my phone so I can keep track of all my apts, hubby's apts, grandkids activities to go to on the way home from work. And texting - a quick one liner back and forth about who needs to do what on the way home. It 's sad but just reflective of the crazy world we live in these days. We work too hard and in a way I think technology has just made it worse. Used to be when you left work the day was done. Not anymore with emails and texts. I am so ready to retire!

So....does anyone know anything about the Cloud? For once my kids were no help. Those phone numbers need to go up there!

My head is always in the clouds, but I don't think that's the one you are asking about!

I don't know much, so little I'll be of no help BUT my son-in-law is a genius about computers and phones so I will pick his brain after work.

What are you going to do when your phone does not work ? Don't blame technology, blame yourself. Can what you are texting not wait until you get home ? You can check your calendar at home for all the appointments you have next day. Why do you have to keep track of your grandkids activities ? It's not your job, it's your kids job. Your hubby should keep track of his own appointments. The world is as crazy as you make it. When you are in your car on the phone and texting you put yourself at risk and the life of others at risk. Is it worth it ? Think about it. How many people have died because someone was on the phone talking or texting ?

I have main numbers written down, but not all. Even the ones I've got written down, I'd hate to have to input that all again. When you get a new phone they transfer all of that for you with some kind of app. As far as the grandkids, I have their schedule because I like to go watch their games so I have which field to go to and what time on the calendar. If I had to go home to check first, I'd miss the game or waste a lot of gas. I don't get the kids to their activities, I just have to get myself there. Hate to end up at the wrong place. I do have a paper calendar at home with activities on it and so I know something is happening that afternoon but don't have to hold the where and when in my head. I can check it later to make sure I remembered correctly or didn't accidentally look at the wrong week. As far as making appointments, that has to be done during work hours, I leave at 8 and don't get home until 5 so business hours to make appointments are while I am at work. I need the calendar to make sure that appointment time will actually work. 3/4 of my work time can't be taken off due to evaluations and meetings and I don't want to schedule a 4 o'clock appointment that would make me miss one of the grandkids games. I never text while I'm driving. I used to be able to multi task and hold multiple days in my head. Chemo brain took over 17 years ago when I went through that. Now I have to write things down and I have to check that what I think I remember is correct. I never text while I'm driving. I text during the day or in the parking lot between errands. I keep hubby's schedule because he has ADHD and we have found it is less stressful for both of us if he gets a reminder about 45 minutes before he needs to be somewhere. I will answer a phone call in the car (bluetooth, hands free). That's no more distracting than talking to your passenger and less distracting than talking to grandkids in their carseats in the back seat if they are with me. For better or worse, the world is not the same as it was 20 years ago. It's a whole lot busier.

Now I understand better. You really have your hands full. You are right, talking to your passenger is as distracting as talking on the phone. And if your passenger does not stop talking during the whole trip it's even worse. I know a lady like this. Geez from the moment she stepped in my car she talked and talked non stop. I had to tune her out answering only yes and no from time to time. With my husband, we don't talk much in the car. But I like to lessen to music.
Sorry to hear you had chemo years ago. It takes a toll on the body. Glad you are alright now. I have to write things down too now but this is because of age.
No the world is not the same today. Some things were better and others not. And we can say the same for today.

Isn't that the truth!
