Veggies

The plants in my container garden are growing! I've got 3 baby red bell peppers, 1 yellow bell pepper, 1 jalapeno and 3 cherry tomatoes. The zucchini plants are healthy but don't see any baby zucchinis yet.

I had a few bell peppers too (red and yellow). They went in Charlie's food.

Our tomatoes are producing nicely. We have gotten a lot of squash, but those plants need to be replaced with new ones. Egg plants were gathered last week. Beets are ready. Okra is producing. I wish we had planted more Okra. Asparagus is still producing but has slowed. I know some states are just now planting.

I agree. But you have to live in the right climate. When we lived in France (a couple of years) I had a huge garden. I planted and harvested green beans, peas, carrots, tomatoes, strawberries, raspberries. What we did not use right away I put in the freezer for use in the winter. We had wild cherry trees on our property but they did not produce enough. One year I had enough just to make one pie. But I can tell you this was the best cherry pie I ever had. We also had sour cherries trees. I love those too. They are good for pie too but also to put them in schnaps with a little sugar. Sometimes I am sad that my grand kids cannot experience this. But at least they know that chocolate milk does not come from brown cows.

I wish I had planted sooner. I got a very late start. So now i'm having a very hard time being patient!

I had a friend who grew up being a "CITY" city kid. For years she though milk came from the grocery store. No idea about cows. LOL.

Actually, yes! The color of the egg comes from the breed of the chicken. Reddish-brown featherered chickens with red earlobes lay brown eggs. White-feathered chickens with white earlobes lay white eggs. There are also breeds that lays blue and speckled eggs.

City girl here didn't know that one. Question - why are organic eggs always brown? Never seen a white organic egg.

Maybe they use only the reddish-brown chickens. When you see pictures or movies about the huge chicken farms, the chickens are always white.
