Exclamation FDA investigates pet treats from China!!

I picked up a little info card at the Pet Expo last weekend. This is the info on the front of the card: BEWARE! FDA investigates pet treats from CHINA - Thousand of complaints filed>Hundreds of deaths reported
Chicken, Duck and Sweet Potato JERKY TREATS are not safe![COLOR="Blue"] Linked to: ILLNESS>LIVER DISEASE>KIDNEY FAILURE>DEATH[COLOR="Black"]
(it has a little blue square with a 'f' in it, I think it means Facebook?>Animal Parents Against Pet Treats and Food Made in China)
on the back of the card were brands and contact info listed: these items are 'made in China' - AKC / Beefeaters / Cadet / Dingos / Dogswell / Waggin' Train / Canyon Creek Ranch / Milo's Kitchen / Hartz / Kingdom Pets / Kirkland / Vitalife / Many more…
For information and support, find us at: Official FDA warning: www.FDA.gov and at http://on.fb.me/AfFKLG

Hope this helps everyone find products that might be harmful for their pups.

I went to the Pet expo here in Ottawa two weekends ago and didn't find any info for that. Sure wish there would have been in order to make people aware of what is going on. Thank you so much for the links.

I bet when the investigation is done, they will find out what our dogs were eating was not real meat. They are making for example chicken look like chicken but it is not chicken. Lord knows what they are putting in their ingredients. I read another article that even if it is made in the USA, the ingredients are largely from China.

The holistic vet I saw recently told me to be very careful about labels. That is exactly what he pointed out; although it might be made in the US or Canada make sure the ingredients are not imported and are local. Very important to read all the labels on packaging.

I am so sick of the importing the US is doing on our food and our beloved pets!!!
No excuse and no reason.

I am becoming a huge reader of labels. Theirs and ours.
Doing research all the time on imported foods.
Have to be digilent. I don't want to eat imported foods anymore than I want Vincent to eat imported foods.

Makes me furious.

We have guidelines here in the US but then will import food that do not follow our guidelines.. not allowed here, but allowed there, and our government will allow that crap to be let into our country. WHY????

Needs to be stopped. First step is not buying their crap. I don't and won't.
But hard to do. Because we just don't know so many times. Wrong. Everything should be 100% labeled as to where it was manufactured.

Laws need to be changed.

I recently starting using frozen green beans as treats. They are less expensive and hopefully will not get recalled!

Started to use a dehydrator to make treats and love it. Even made chicken jerky and the fluffs go crazy for them. Great recipes on line......Alot cheaper too than buying them.
