Tebow update

Tebow definitely feels better. He is ready and raring to go and giving us all fits trying to keep him calm. We keep a leash on him even on the couch so that we can instantly feel if he is getting ready to jump. Even with that the little bugger has managed to jump a couple of times!

We've moved Tebow to the kitchen with his crate and his brothers during the day when we are at work. We have been leaving the crate open so he can go in and out. The boys just basically sleep when we are gone. However, once we get home it's another story. They are all wanting out of the kitchen. Ollie is good at escaping even with gates up unless chairs are also up against the gate. I took Bentley out to potty and Ollie helped Tebow escape. When I came back in, Ollie was on the couch and Tebow was sitting on the landing at the top of the stairs just as proud as he could be! He's never one to stay down for long. When he was neutered, he was at the running and jumping the next day. I just try to comfort myself that we are holding his shenanigans down to a bare minimum.

Oh don't you know!!! Tebow's check-up went fine. He has a whole list of exercises to do for the next 4 weeks. We start with 2 walks a day, 10 minutes each and increase by 5 minutes each week. Back on pain meds for the first week of this. He has to do sit-stands, s shaped walking, ladder walking. Ladder walking is easier for little dogs than curb walking. They want to just jump up and down on the curbs but the goal is weight shifting and lifting one leg at a time. (You lay the ladder flat on the ground and they have to walk over each rung) And he still has to be totally calm/crate confined for 4 more weeks.

This brings back memories with Jack last year!! Amazing how they have improved the recovery method for these injuries.

I just hope to never have to do it again. I'm not sure who it is harder on - Tebow or me. I want to say me. One more week and then we have our xray appointment to check out the healing. Hoping for an all clear.

It is hard on us!! After the first week Jack didn't even notice the toys were all put away, he wasn't interested. I was all upset he couldn't play!

Mine keep finding toys every now and then even though I thought we had them all. They actually found 2 yesterday, which promptly went in drawers. Tebow found 1 of them (or 1 of the other boys brought it out in the open for Tebow to get). All of a sudden Tebow is sitting on the couch with me with a ball in his mouth. He was not a happy camper when I took it from him. It will be interesting bringing the toys back because some have quickly been stuck in the closest hiding spot at that moment and I don't think I remember where all of them are.

Activity Countdown

Tebow passed his Xray with flying colors. He's loose off leash in the house now. He's getting around really well. In about a week and a half the toys can come back. He will be so excited! (So will Bentley and Ollie)

That's great news! Toys for boys.......they will be ready to rip them apart for hiding out so long.

Yeah!!! Party time with the boys and their toys!! When Jack got to play with his toys after his surgery last year, he didn't know which one to grab first. I think he was in overloaded!!

Will Tebow still get to do agility?

I'm going to say no It was very very successful for functional everyday improvement. He is walking well. (He was basically holding his leg up full time). He has even run a couple of times in the last couple of days and that looked good. However, he still has a .5 luxation. He had a 1 at age one and by age 6 it had advanced to a 3 at which point you have to deal with it. I'll never keep him from jumping on and off the couch but that is not repeated quick jumps in a series like it is in agility. I don't ever want to put him through that surgery again for his and my sake/sanity - not to mention the $$$$. It was NOT cheap. There are some Rally classes around here. Nosework sounds interesting, just not sure there are classes near here. Ollie will definitely do agility. Not sure what I will do with Bentley. I really can't do anything until January. Work is out of control and I'm counting down the days until Dec. 21 retirement.
