Some news

I have not been posting lately. It's now 3 weeks after having hip replacement surgery. I have physical therapy 3 times a week. I have graduated now to a cane. I can walk a few steps without it inside my home. Getting better day after day. Hope that in a few weeks I will be running. It was not easy but had to be done.

That's some major surgery you had and so glad it went well. Sounds like you are in your recovery phase and doing well. Sometimes the therapy is more difficult than the surgery. Wishing you well and a complete recovery.

Eesssh. That's some tough surgery. Glad all seems to be going well and hopefully getting around will now be a whole lot easier! PT is tough! Carol is right about that. And a lot of times, it hurts. Hope you don't have to many more sessions to go.

I did not need all 6 weeks of physical therapy. Did barely 4 weeks. They re-evaluated me and said I don't need more. Was already walking by myself and they made me go up and down a flight of stairs. Had my post op with the surgeon a couple of days ago, saw the new x-rays, he said everything is okay. I have resumed doing pretty much everything, even went shopping with my husband, something I avoided doing before the surgery. My cleaning lady could not come this last week, so I even cleaned the house with the help of my husband. Basically it takes 6 weeks to be back to almost normal. I tried to go on a threadmill (since it would be good for me to start walking again) but even the slow setting was too fast. Surgeon said it's better to street walk than go on the threadmill. Street walking I am in control not the machine. So hopefully the weather is going to get cooler to be able to do this. Will take Charlie with me in his stroller. He can walk, but I don't want him to get all dusty from the street.

She will do fine. First week is the hardest. After it will be a breeze. Doing the exercises at home too will help a lot with recovery.
