Walk through the woods

The boys had a nice approximately 3 mile hike today on trails around Falls Lake State Park. It was a part we hadn't been on before and was really nice. All shaded through the trees and with occasional looks at the lake. The only down side was it wasn't a loop trail so after about 1 1/2 miles we had to back track the way we came. We are going to try to figure out spots to drop off a second car so we don't have to back track. Bentley was full of energy today and enjoyed being the leader for most of the hike. He set a pretty fast pace too. Tebow got to spend a lot of time off leash in the middle with me up front and hubby in the rear. He did surprisingly well keeping pace and staying right on the path. We leashed him when the trail was narrow to make sure he didn't wander off into the weeds/grass where they could be snakes. (luckily we didn't see any!! We did see one last time we were out on the boat though. I don't like snakes of any kind - even the nonpoisonous ones.). Ollie needed some encouragement at times to keep the pace. He still needs to lose a little more weight so the hike was really good for him. Gotta get the boys ready and in shape for our upcoming Roadtrek trip so they are ready to hike and explore.

Wow! That sounds like fun. I used to love doing things like that, wish I still could.
Jack would want to sniff everything, he'd be lucky to get a 1/2 mile in!
No more long walks for Jack since he is a senior citizen, almost 80 in human yrs.
He sets the pace now when he goes on walks and heads home when he's ready.

Sounds like a fun day for you and the fluffs. I hate having to backtrack on a trail.

Excess weight is bad for health. Training first.

Ollie is not fat- fat. Just a little more than he should be thank goodness. More activity will take care of that.

I so agree with you. Hard on their joints and heart.
