Unhappy New Wetting problem

Hello, I hope someone here can help me. I rescued Mason when he was 3 about 5 years ago. He was kennel trained and has always liked being in his kennel. Recently he has become very anxious after he has been in his kennel for awhile and he has now started wetting in his kennel at night. This is new behavior for him and it is happening nearly every night. I just had his semi-annual complete check-up done and they could find nothing wrong. His health is excellent. Any one have any idea what the problem might be and how I can correct this behavior?

Is your kennel door closed ? If yes, maybe leave the door open and see what happens.

My dog sleeps with us in the bed. Sometimes he wants to go pee or drink water. So I get up with him to turn on the lights to go to his pee pad or bowl.

Wetting problem

Thanks. Mason has always spent the night in his kennel and has never slept in our bed. I've recently also had some problems of him doing his business elsewhere in the house, so I can't leave the kennel open. It's just strange to me that his behavior has changed so much recently.
